Problems with router supplied by 02 Broadband

I messed around with many ADSL rotuers, and have to agree that a WRT54GL + Tomato is exceedingly stable..

I actually use my old DG834N with DG Team firmware, set to modem only mode (So I can use the SNR Tweaking) with it, and all my 'issues' of disconnecting etc have disappeared.

Just got my DG834GT today, paid about £17 for it of eBay. Took me awhile getting the firmware on it though cause i needed to use an XP based machine. The upgrading software didn't work on Vista for me.

Tweaked it a bit and its sitting happily at 6025 kbps, downloading now at about 615kB/s of torrents. Hopefully it will stay connected at this speed, but it has been for almost 5 hours now.

My O2 Box got ~5500kbps in the mornings, but always disconnected in the evenings and went down to as low as ~3800kbps at times. Hopefully the DG834GT will hold this sync!

Strange, that's pretty much the opposite experience to most people. The Speedtouches often have problems in games but the GTs don't. I know there was one release of the DGTeam firmware a few months back that had 'issues', but that's been sorted now afaik. My own GT/DGTeam setup has been rock solid for months now. I'm actually scared to upgrade the firmware in case it's not as good :)

I used to have this issue on an old GT (We're talking about 3 years ago though) - I'm not sure if it was just very old firmware or a duff router. The 5 or 6 I've used since then haven't had the issue.

Well, i've tried the V1.01.32 - DGTeam Rev. 0743 FW and it plays L4D and TF2 fine now so i'm happy. Currently synced at 13,825 / 1325

Thats interesting, I don't think I have had to reset/turn my O2 box off for months, and its always at/or above 16meg/1.3meg....a vast improvement over my old be*box which used to spit the dummy out once a week or so.

I totally agree that the router is pants, mine keeps power cycling making my connection very unreliable for gaming.... I phone up serveal times and emailed them, they keep telling me that the issue is not at there end (the comment no ... sherlock! comes to mind) I keep telling them the router is power cycling but they just wont change it.
