I recently bought a silicon image Sil3112 RAID sata pci controller for use in my home server.

I dont want to boot from it, but i want it to host my 2 non raid hard drives.

But as much as i try, windows xp wont accept the drivers i am trying to load. It recognizes in device manager as 'Silicon image Sil 3112 SATA Link Controller, but still say that there was problems installing the hardware.

Is there something simple i have missed out?

Many thanks

Charlie

You must use the raid drivers, not the satalink one.

"softraid 5 controller"

I had the same problem when I downloaded drivers from silicones websites - however I did a windows update and there was the driver listed above "softraid 5 controller" and it worked instantly :) (I have 2 non raid drives connected to my PCI-E one).
