Hey, I have a Virgin Media 20mb connection and to be honest I'm pretty happy with it, I get near advertised speeds fairly consistently and don't use the traffic management limits so it's all ok. One are it always seems to let me down in comparison to my connection though is with streaming, whether it's iplayer, youtube or any other video streaming source I get stuttering, buffering etc almost constantly.

This is with no downloading/uploading and light to no internet browsing. I am using a wifi router, however it's wireless N and has no problem wirelessly streaming media to my ps3 from my pc and I have gone through other routers and adapters and had the same issue.

I'm pretty sure my connection should be able to better handle streaming media even if i am browsing at the same time but it's just consistently slow. Is it something that could be fixed or do you have any idea why it could be so slow?

yeah heh, it was actually when i was watching the murray match so it went on past 10:30. do vm traffic shape streaming media in their peak hours then? and even if they do shouldn't my 5mb (if downgraded) still be mroe than enough to handle a stream.

They throttle you by 75% during peak hours if you pass a certain bandwidth. At which point, you won't be able to stream iPlayer at highest quality settings. But that should end at 9pm, so if it's continuing after then it's not the throttling.
