Okay, i have Serious problems with my system. most of the hardware is from Overclockers so im trying to find out whats at fault before i send back stuff and end up getting charged for return postage.

My Setup:

Motherboard: Asus M4N72-E
CPU: Amd Phenom 9950BE (stock cooler/not overclocked)
Ram: Kingston Hyper-X 8500 4gb (2x2gb) (1066mhz)
GFX: BFG 9800GTX+ 512mb
PSU: 700Watt Jeantech (£80 - bought out of need due to my old one not having enough juice to run the 9800GTX+)
HDD: 2 x Samsung F1 1TB hard drives
Fans: Antec Movable above chipset Heatsink, 120mm front, 120mm rear, 120mm psu, 80mm side, standard on gfx & CPU.

Okay my first problem was The northbridge cooking and crashing. so i got a LARGE northbridge chipset cooler and a fan for it. this fixed that issue.

Now im having some odd Blue Screens. The mini dumps have gone From atapi.sys, NTKernal.sys and more.

BUT the problem only seems to be when i have both sticks of ram in (even running them at 800mhz instead of 1066mhz - ps: yes there's only one stick per channel).

Both sticks on there own are fine. i ran over night checks on them with memchk pro.

But as soon as both sticks are in (does not matter what slots) the system reboots, blue screens sometimes refuses to even post (no bios beeps / looping restarts / turns on then off then back on when you power it on)

Im 100% confused on what this could be, im starting to think Power due to the extra stick drawing more? but im out of idea's and im pig sick of this thing now!

Note: just remembered, Ramtest gives lots of errors when both sticks are in together. but NOT when each stick is in by its self (switched them over and tested both by them selfs)

Are you using the lastest bios for you MB?

What timing/volts have you set your mem too (or what are their default settings in the bios)

Your PSU is kinda.. hmmmm.. have you a mate with a bigger/better PSU that you can borrow to run a few tests?

Im gonna lend my mates PSU, but think his is more or less same make/voltage.

And timings i have tried bios defaults and recommended 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v and 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v Same problems though.

Bios versions i had the lastest but did downgrade to older versions to check for new faults in bios updates. didnt help any.

Forgot to add something... updated first post about it (see bottom of post)

look at the ram are they the same model. only thing i can think of. from reading through it does not seem to be anything else. it mite not be a good make psu but it should do the job. do you have a smaller graphics card if you have and put that in then it would take less power then you no its not that. something like a nvidia 6600 or a 7series

Both where tested in channel 1 slot 1.

The psu has a rear readout and wattage is rarely above 190w (idle)

I will test with my mates PSU when i can... and i dont have a slower gfx card. although i think u can run it in 'safe mode' without the added power connections.

And ram are a matching pair. (set)

Might also check with one stick just in channel 2... see if it could be that...

Okay update.

I lent my mates 600watt psu and it seems to have stopped the memory errors... and so far no crashes.

But now the question is... how do i *make sure* its indeed fixed.. ive ran MemTest Pro so far at 66% with no errors. normally gives errors after 16% or so.

But i want to make sure im not replacing a okay psu that has a faulty cable or something?....

Also, whats the best PSU these days? cheaper the better but something that is quality would be nice!

You can only run one stick in each channel (forgive me if this is wrong) but im not sure if u can run pc8500 on a am2+ cpu in ganged?

@ shadowake: im going to try that tonight..

will post the results. but starting to think it could be the motherboard as the ram its self fault-less when only one is inserted in board

Tested the ram to 150% last night in my mates pc. no problems what so ever. so its not my ram. the only thing left im thinking is the motherboard... so gonna return that to OC when the Return request is accepted... Sick of this bloody pc now.... grr
