Problems with Transparent PNG's With IE6

I'm doing a mock website for the company my dad works for and am having troubles with IE6. Each page has a graphic title with some nice shadow effects so that they cast on the background image of the page. This works fine in Fire Fox and Opera but IE6 seems to box the image in white, therefor losing the transparent effect and making the page look ugly. Is there a way around this or is it IE being retarded.

someone informed me the other day that png's don't work in IE6 :eek:

if that image is always going to be relative to the background, take a screenshot and cut it out so the new image has a background that lines up with any detail from the mainpage. that about the best bodge i can think off, of hand.

IE doesn't do PNG's!! :eek:

I'll see if it works with giffs then!

Try PNG8 instead of 24

I don't know if I'm having a really slow day, but what the hell are cabnets? Shouldn't it be "cabinets"?

As for the PNGs, you can either read this article over at A List Apart: Cross Browser Variable Opacity with PNG or you can go the easy way of using a gif.

You're right it should be 'cabinets'! Tried giffs but they look a bit messy still. Will have a play an see what I can get.
