Problems with Video conferencing

Hi

I am currently running an HP Omen i7 8750, 8gb Nvidia GeForce GTX1070 Windows 10

Bit of background. I have a poor internet connection 12mb 3.5mb up. I also have a faulty router (currently on PlusNet fibre). I am changing to virgin fibre to home tomorrow, so that should sort out the speed issue.

The problem I am having is with video conferencing. Microsoft teams, zoom, messenger etc. they all start off fine, but after 5-10 minutes they start to freeze and drop connections. Normally you would assume it was all to do with the aforementioned issues, but the Ipad and phones don't have the same problem on the same network. I connected the laptop to the router by cable. It didn't make any difference. I have updated everything including the network adapter drivers but its still the same.

Its as if there is a bottleneck which gets clogged up after a few minutes of use. I have tried using the conferencing with everything else shut down, but still the same.

Any ideas would be very helpful. I don't want to do a factory reset as I have software which I don't want to have to reinstall.

Does this happen when you only use audio? Could it be that the mobile and tablet are using less bandwidth?

I use Teams for work and that often has issues recently and my connection is D40/U16.

TBH i am not sure. all our calls are video. The thing that seems strange is that it starts off fine then gradually deteriorates, ad if something is filling up and slowing down/ buffering.

Could be a video resolution issue? PC/Laptop might be opting for a much higher video res than what your phone/tablet could be doing. Although i can't see anywhere in Teams where you could adjust that.
