Hi all,

I've been experiencing some issues with video playback lately, whereby I will get a lot of freezes, stutters and artifacting (in the video only). I don't believe my graphics card is at fault here- it's happy with games at high settings and in any case I think video playback is more of a CPU thing anyway.

This happens in media formats of many kinds (m4v, avi though especially high definition mkv content), and seems to happen in VLC more than WMP, though does occur in both. Also happens whether I'm playing media from that specific HD, a different internal one, an external one or a network drive.

My current rig is in my signature. I did hear rumors that there were problems with early P67 chipsets (which resulted in a recall), and was wondering if that could be it? Beyond that I'm stumped, and it's driving me crazy...would appreciate any ideas.
