I've been trying out various power saving options but having problems with the computer waking up correctly.

I tried to use Sleep a while ago but it never woke up properly afterwards. Things like Firefox took ages to load up, it needed to be rebooted to run properly again.

Just tried hybrid sleep and when I woke it up again I was greeted with a blue screen saying something about driver power?

So now I'll just try regular hibernate with hybrid sleep disabled, but if possible I'd like to get everything working to keep my options open kinda thing. Any idea why they're messing up?

Cheers

I had sleep problems with Vista once upon a time. I had to format and reinstall for some reason and since then, the sleep function has been perfect. So the first thing I'd ask is how old the installation is and what drivers you'd installed since?

I had problems with Vista waking itself up from sleep and also sometimes it not waking up properly and requiring a reboot. I'm fairly certain it was down to old video / sound drivers and / or incompatible codecs and programs that I had installed.

Other comments - do you have a laptop or a tower / desktop? Have you checked that the BIOS settings have been set correctly for advanced power management?

Mines a desktop. I think I got the computer last easter, built up from parts by my computer techy mate.

I dont think I've actually installed any BIOS updates. The only things I think I've upgraded drivers for are the graphics card and the SMBus manager or something..
