Problems with WLM and Gmail

Having had the prolonged problem with VM email spam since they changed their platform. I have decided to forward emails from family members VM email addresses to a Gmail account. This does a great job of filtering all the spam and leaves the few messages I want.
However I cannot integrate the Gmail into my WLM to read. Could it be due to the fact that it is has too much to do ie. receiving emails from 2 other accounts and then being asked to transfer them to a client.
Sorry for what may seem a stupid question.
I ask as I may eventually register for Gmail accounts for all members of the family and would like a PC based client that would download all messages. Rather than the web based way I currently do it.

No. I set up another Gmail account for my wife and I am able to configure it to accept emails in Live Mail. But as soon if I use the settings in Gmail to retrieve her virgin emails it won't. But it will if used as a standalone web based client it will retrieve the virgin emails. I therefor have to use each gmail separately from a browser to retrieve virgin emails.
