Hi,
I'm trying to set up a wireless linksys usb adapter. After installing the system tray keeps poping up every couple of seconds, telling me that "the cable is unplugged". Anyone seen anything like this before?
Would it be usb or windows?
It doesn't matter which usb sockets I use; motherboard1.1 or pci2.0.
PC specs:
Win2000 sp4
athlon XP 1900+
nforce1
256mb
WD 120GB
geforce4
pci usb2 card

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you downloaded any updates for the USB NIC drivers?

Have you downloaded any updates for the USB drivers on your motherboard? Or PCI USB card?

Is Windows 2000 fully service packed and updated?

What else is attached to USB? Could you be overloading the power requirements? Try unplugging all USB devices as a test to see if anything improves. And try a powered USB hub if you have one.
