process killer

looking for a cheap (read as free) process killer for terminating all non essential background apps whilst gaming. The last one I tried killed my net connection so was pretty useless.

Are you looking for one to automatically pick out what it deems as non-essential or are you going to script it to kill specific ones?

Process Explorer

Found here, it is easy to use, and fairly safe (as long as you don't go crazy and kill every process).

thanks guys, my knowledge of background processes is limited and ideally want one that just kills all non essentials automatically

no such thing exists

just don't install crap on your pc and always untick the 'show in taskbar' icon for apps..
