Hey All,

Just a quick one. I know this probably not possible (yet) but thought I'd ask. Is it possible to dictate what processes are on a specific core.

EG ...say i have my anti-virus scan running on core 0 ... is there anyway I can swap it to core 1/2/3 ??

ok thanks. Just heard about it a while ago and couldnt think of what it was you needed to set to enable this.

We have a few multi-core cpu's here at work, and some guy I work with said it wasnt possible (he works in IT, like myself.

Although this was the same guy who said he can make PS3 games work on the Xbox 360 by simply.."altering" the code

Yes.

Set affinity in task manager.

For the best perfromance let windows do it on it own.

Hmmm, I'm not sure how it works on Vista, but multicore cpu on XP x64 wasnt especially great. Things were much better when I set winamp etc to one core and my single threaded games to the other core.

You can use the imagecfg tool to set the affinity mask on your selected apps.. However make sure you backup the original exe as some games do a security check to see if the file has been modified.

This tool was VERY useful for solving the stuttering issues I was having with Prince of Persia, because it was trying to run the same thread on both cores at the same time.

Oh, please do. We could use a laugh. :D

Well, recently he's been running around telling everyone how he's hacked peoples msn / paypal accounts..telling practically everyone at work...

He was telling the security manager (not a wise idea really is it) how he shifted this guys money around through 3 or 4 accounts...so it constantly looped.

Does the same with Xbox accounts on xbox live. then strats going around telling people he's doing it.

he's only 17 and he runs around the IT department telling people who have been here 15-20 years how it SHOULD be done. bloody IT juniors!

He's probably doing it off your works computers too lol, would be silly not to as if he logs onto a guest account and it's a big-ish company, makes his actions pretty anonymous, well not the company heh.
