Processor choice?

Guys,

Was considering buying a E6700 1066fsb processor soon. But have a couple of questions for you guys...

I noticed the Q6600 is now only approximately 50 pounds more than the E6700. Is it worth considering this quad core processor?

Also, new Allendale chips. Are these 'budget' versions of the conroe? Is there to be an Allendale equivelent of the E6700?

Lastly, recently Intel announced price cuts across the conroe range. Any idea when this will happen for the E6700?

TIA!

Sean

Will you be overclocking?

If so,

I would get either the 6420 with 4mb cache or Q6600 quad.

The two ends of the C2D spectrum.

6420 will offer 6600 clocks and still have the cache for much less.

And the Q6600 quad core CPU

Hadn't thought about overclocking immediatley - although it would be nice to have the capability.

Reason for purchase is its a new build, so looking for some of the 'better' and 'future proof' hardware to put in.

Have you seen any OC results for this? The E4400 data I saw looked poorer than the E4300, and I haven't seen any E6420 but for £116 delivered, it would have to be awful to put me off to be honest.
