Hi folks,

Am I right in thinking that apart from getting more fps because of the increased number of shader cores with a gtx275 compared to a 260 (for example), there is no other benefits to be had. Any improvement in IQ?
I'll be honest and admit I know little or nothing about memory bandwith, I see that the 275 has more compared to the 260. Any real noticable advantage there ?

Saw the value version of the 285 for £290. Mulling that over. Reason I'm enquiring is I will be buying a new video card, won't be getting a 30" monitor just yet so my 4870X2 is a little overkill. Not a great amount, perhaps, but I'm not getting my monies worth. I've put it up for sale and fancy trying an nvidia card since I hear they have very good minimum frame rates. Either that or a 4890 but I'm not so sure.

When it comes to advising others it can be easy but when its your own cash it's a little different. :D

Cheers.

Apart from the 512 bit memory interface (good increase as it is) I can't see any obvious reason for the 285 now, even the value one.

£290?

Get 2 GTX 260's for that money mate

Yeah, the value 260 look worth considering but as someone else said my mobo is for xfire only. I could get a 4890 but I don't know at the mo.

Just been looking at some benchmarks, which I know are not the be and end all, but when I saw how far the 4870X2 performance bar was compared to anything else (apart from the 295) I did question if I was doing the right thing by selling it. The benchy was for my res too : 1680*1050.
