Hi, I have a CPU: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad 4 Processor 3.60 GHz and was thinking of upgrading it to AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320E Black Edition 3.20GHz. Would this make much of a difference to the fps in my games or is the performance increase not worth the price? Is the upgrade worth it? Thanks for the help

It depends on a couple of factors:

a) what graphics card are you pairing this cpu with?

b) what games are you planning to play?

If your graphics card is your bottleneck, then a better cpu won't help, so you might be better off getting a better gpu rather than a cpu. On the other hand, if the games you play are particularly demanding on the cpu (BF3 & 4 benefit from a fast cpu, for instance) AND you have a good GPU then the better cpu would help.

I have a MSI GeForce GTX 760 OC Gaming Edition 2048MB GDDR5 and I would like to play single player games like the Witcher 3, shadows of mordor and assassin's creed unity with a better FPS. 60FPS if possible. Thanks for the quick reply

I wouldn't stick a 8000 series cpu in that board with it's naked vrm's. Depending on which revision you have you might not be able to anyway. Looking at the cpu support list you need the rev 5.x board to take a 8320e. Rev 3.1 and 4.0 don't have it on their cpu support lists.
