Hi all newbie & complete novice. I’m looking to upgrade the processor on my son’s PC from intel i5 2400 to i7 2600. The motherboard is a Fujitsu D3061-B1 Is this a straight swap? I realise it’s an old system, unfortunately I’m not in a position to buy a full new upgrade. So any help would be greatly appreciated

I had a Google for bios or details and no luck. Iirc they were released at the same time time so better than even odds? Is there a model with the 2600 in it.

Either 2600k or 2700k be best you can do. Will offer only extra 300/400mhz and HT, not really going to offer a huge uplift for anything modern. What's it for?

It should be yeah, I can't see any notes on the compatibility chart about a BIOS update being needed for any 2nd gen CPU.

Fujitsu motherboards have been taken over by Kontron and you can still find BIOS updates on their website under "EOL motherboards" "EOL classic desktop": ftp.kontron.com (account: anonymous, password: leave blank).
