I'm not sure if this is against the rules, if so then apologies and please delete.

We're currently using Dell for purchasing servers/desktops/printers etc, However it's now taking around 4 weeks for computers to be delivered.
It's normally taken around 3/5 days in the past, I was wondering are there any other companies around that offer a similar service, who do you use?

My line manager is getting peeved off at the long delays, our account manager is a total ***** and so is his manager, two departments are due for new machines, around 45 in total and waiting around for Dell is not a favourable option right now.

There are some Dell resellers you can go through, but Dell like to keep them quiet so you deal direct, you pay a little extra on top but they usually have stock available. Don't have any info on them now as we are doing ok with Dell. Other option is to move to a differen't vendor (HP/Compaq etc).

You could always try the bigger companies such as Computer Centre, SCC etc to see if they can offer some kind of service.

Yup there have been plenty of delays with Dell stuff recently..... At one point OCUK were selling dell kit?

We just bought a load of Dell kit. SAN/Servers and a few desktop machines (18).

The SAN and server both arrived within a week and the Servers arrived yesterday (about a week and a half). New model servers too (R710).

We are new customers so whether they are trying to impress I'm not sure - but impress they have - so far.

depends what it is youre wanting to be honest, some items are already on the shelf others need building/customising which increases the lead time.
