Hi Guys,

Ive finally got the all clear from the missus and have got about £750 to spend on a new system, the budget is flexible for the right reasons!

Im looking for a prodigy case due to size so quite limited on MBs, i already have an SSD and not too fussed about CD drive as i have a USB one if i ever need it. Will be mostly used for gaming.

All specs are most welcome!

Thanks

Ps budget is £750, title is a typo

^^ done - Rilot

Thanks looks great, will the gfx card and the cooler have enough clearance? and yep already have windows :)

The Prodigy can take coolers up to 175mm, cards up to 320mm. I can't see the length of the 7950, but it's very unlikely to be that long.

If you want, you can also get watercooling with the Corsair refurbs. I think the Prodigy can take an H100 if you don't use an optical drive, but I'm not sure.

Those Be Quiet!'s dont have sleeved cables either.

For cooler try take a look at the Alpenfohn Matterhorn Pure, also double check it will fit with the RAM.

Thanks! :)

Yep a H100 would be nice, if it doesnt fit then it will have to be a H60. Also the card length should be fine as il remove the hard drive enclosures as i will be using an SSD

Cheers guys!

Hi. Yes you can fit an h100 in the prodigy, if you don't need the optical drive bay you can remove it to get even better airflow for the h100 or any other watercool setup you might. Want to install.

Sorry for any typos im on mobile... Pc died

My £800-900 would be fine for what you want all you need to do is drop the ram down to 8gb then remove ssd which would then bring it about £755 max

My topic with the details post is at the bottom in there with parts http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18527185 I did price up using various places for the parts.

Corsair H100 fits fine at the top if you remove the 5.25 drive cage.

Just a word of warning with the cooler, if you do go for an air cooler over a CL type, the Gigabyte board has a very badly placed CPU socket, I have the Z77 variant of this board and the largest cooler I could fit was the Arctic Freezer 7 rev.2.

The problem is the CPU socket is placed very close to the PCIe socket, the AC7 fitted, just, with the fan shroud nestled up against the back of the GPU.

I have just installed a Kuhler 620 today which gives you bags of room.

Prepare yourself for quite a bit of fiddling :). Ive always been used to much larger cases but decided I didnt need a big PC taking up too much room, so went for the 'Prodigy'. Some hours later with many expletives my new PC was ready.... and it didnt dissapoint!

I just dont know how some peple get the inside looking so immaculate, mine looks like a pan of spaghetti :(

Hold your horse! If you are not in a hurry to buy...how about wait for the Prodigy M?

The case itself is the same size as the Prodigy, but it can take a MicroATX board instead of Mini-itx board.

How they managed that you wonder? Basically you know how the Prodigy got space for drive cages to fitting up to 6 HDD? They trade that off to provide space for fitting the MicroATX board instead. I myself got a Prodigy, and I till how with me only having two 2.5" drives in that case, I seriously wish I didn't buy the Prodigy but waited for the Prodigy M instead, as the huge empty space inside the case with the drive-bays remove is not doing me any good, and the case is "bigger than it should be" because of the space they reserved for the drive bays. Here have a preview of what the Prodigy M looks like:

Also from the looks of it, the Prodigy M could potentially being a case with the best cooling for graphic card, considering the proximity of the top intake to the graphic card.

I'd go for 500W, you'd probably get away with 430, but it's not worth it for the small extra.

Thanks!
