Phew....lot's of reading, research and not a little bit of help on the forums. This is my draft build...anything I am missing?

Case: Bitfeinx Prodigy M http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-142-BX
CPU: existing i5 2500k LGA1155
Watercooler: Corsair Hydro H80i http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-014-CS
GPUs: existing HIS IceQ 7950 x2 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-394-GI
PSU: Silverstone Strider Gold Evolution 850w http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-226-SV
Memory: Patriot Venon Red 16gb (2x8gb) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-091-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

I am hoping I have enough room in the chassis to fit it all and overclock the CPU to 4ghz. And that all the cables actually fit....Any advice, recommendations or changes really gratefully welcomed.

Thanks:)

Nothing to say sorry for, nothing at all, these forums are always helpful:)

I am quite set on the prodigy M case (asthetics - i haz shame for admitting!!). I forgot to check the PSU dimensions, thanks for the spot. From waht I have read, 150mm would fit with room, but I will need 650w to power my setup. Is there an alternative PSu that would fit that bill, something like this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-314-SV&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2283

I will be powering a singluar ssd and a sata drive in addition to the GPUs and CPU OCed.

Hi,

Can I also add that the board does crossfire at 16X/4X, for 8X/8X Crossfire a Sniper M5 will be better.

As for the PSU, the one you linked is short enough.

Or,

Its basically non modular PSU's it looks like that are the size you want.

Ah, just checked. the Sniper M5 is a LGA 1150 socket, my CPU is a 1155 type :(

Will the 16x and 4x pairing in Crossfire cause any issues?

Okay, changes to spec (thanks for input so far):

PSU:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-304-SV&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2283
Mobo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-061-AK
Mem: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-098-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1387

I have gone for higher mem speed (1600 to 2400) as the recommended mobo supports higher speeds.

The mobo will support overclocking, I assume?

Again, any advice really welcome. this is a journey of learning and churning :)

Your correct, it is slot 1 and slot 3 that do x8/x8.

The problem in a 5 slot case (the Prodigy M) the card will be right up against the top of the case.. Luckly the case has ventilation out the top..but very little room between the two.

Also the USB, Audio and other case connectors are positioned underneath the second card, this looks really fiddly to sort out.

Like i said, i personally wouldn't go SLI in a Prodigy M

Only just bought a pair of 7950 to power my 27" monitor at 1440 :( Cant really drop them for a high powered single GPU after just 1 month of owning, that would hurt. Although I can see your point.

Darn you Prodigy M for being a case I like the look of so much. Got to try and hope I can make it fit and the cooling works.

The way I see it so far is I am going to have a water cooeld processor venting straight out the case, other fans to create neg pressure in case and the GPUs are blowing out as well. That should keep temps within parameters.

The GPUs are already one slot away from each other and with a foam spacer keeping the gap open, they temps under load are fine (70 or so).

So, the Gigabyte card and mem it is - thanks for the tip there.

I am still struggling with the PSU. Modular would allow me more control over cables and remove those I dont use, but finding a 700w PSu that is 150mm is a bit difficult. I currently have a 650w but am worried this will drain once I OC the processor.

Any thoughts on that last component? A good PSU that is modular. If not, I will go with the BeQuiet L7.

Again, thanks for all the help. Awesome.

I'm not sure but I imagine that modular PSU's will be deeper than non-modular because inside the PSU they have to have a riser board with the connectors on, this will add depth to the PSU hence why it looks impossible to find a modular PSU at 150mm in depth.

Plus the bigger the wattage the bigger the gubbins inside, hence why when you see most 1KW+ PSU's they look monstrous.

Very true. So, it is a question of whether I need that extra 50W or so over 650w. Or if I can fit the cables around the cards...hmmm.

puma knight what did you end up ordering? looking to do something similar, SLI rig but I'm now concerned about the air flow and whether I can fit an 850w psi in the case and where it exhausts its hot air to. I love the look or the prodigy M but also now considering the corsair 350D case.

Please tell me how you get on and what temps everything runs at

cheers

Ian

Will do. I went with a BeQuiet 730w as it was 150mm and covered the power for SLI. I also went for a water cooled setup on the CPU. As soon as I have it set up, I will let you know how it goes on temps and airflow.

Aye but in conjunction with a 160mm PSU? Plus wasn't sure of the make / model of PSU, radiator and gfx! Thanks

From what I have seen the 160mm does fit with most single GPU cards, as long as the mobo gives clearance. Best thing to do is spec the length of your new GPU to be sure. If it is below 11.5 inches, then 160mm will be a squeeze but should be fine.

I am happy to give it a measure for you in my case if you send me the dimensions - not fool proof but at least give you some idea.
