I'm looking to build a small 2011 server for between £400-500. No need for storage as that'll be coming from NAS, currently have a old aged HP WHS v1 server that I'd like to upgrade.

Used for:
Media storage/transcoding
Running multiple server/client custom applications
Other server apps (teamspeak, some game clients)
Local WAMP setup

Ideally I'd like this to be as near silent as possible, the components don't have to be extreme but decent at the same time. Here's what I've managed to come up with so far, I'd love to hear any suggestions you guys have:

1 x OCZ Agility 3 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (AGT3-25SAT3-240G) £139.99
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £99.95
1 x Gigabyte H77N-WIFI Intel H77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £89.99
1 x BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Arctic White £57.98

Thanks!

Looks good but id make a few changes.

A modular PSU is a must for small case.

I changed the prodigy as it is quite big for an itx case and as you dont need to overclock i don't see the need.

Changed the SSD for a bigger/more reliable one.

Actually I would kinda love to keep the BitFenix Prodigy case, just a personal preference :)

I have however taken onboard the PSU/SSD/MB you've suggested but kept the Ivy Bridge (i'll probably be running the display out to a TV and possibly play content through VLC or something, I know that's not what the WHS is intended for but what the hell). I also dropped the wifi card, no need for that :)

Here's the updated basket:

Yeah I think the i5 would be overkill, even the i3 will be really but at £99 it's a great value proc. Just ordered the setup now, although I switched back to the gigabyte mobo for asthetics and dual-lan with a couple of sp120 quiet fans all for £520 :)

Thanks for your help!

No worries, those sp120's are great, i have 2 in push/pull on a h50 and they are awesome.

Black and white (and grey) scheme will look amazing.

I am very much jealous. (Grammar at it's best)
