Producers (mostly DJs) are people who write/record the music, and when you add singers, rappers and dancers, they form a dance act. I'm mostly interested in 1990s music, but feel free to chuck away any examples. These below are the example I can think of and I wondered if there are more!
Erick Morillo:
- formed Reel 2 Real for three years before going solo
- Zig & Zag's "Them Girls"
- produced theme tune "Move It" from the Madagascar film series
- various remixes from single CDs
Rollo & Sister Bliss:
- formed Faithless
- OT Quartet's "Hold That Sucker Down"
- probably did 1995 version of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" ??
- one of the remixes of Livin' Joy's "Dreamer"
Norman Cook:
- formed Dubs International
- formed Freak Power
- formed Fat Boy Slim
- formed Mighty Dub Catz
- produced Babylon Zoo's "Spaceman"
- produced Cornershop's "Brimful of Asha"
Livin' Joy and Alex Party
- had the same producers!
Todd Terry:
- released "Keep on Jumpin'"
- produced some of Everything But The Girl's 1995/6 album
Pete Heller:
- released "Big Love"
- various remixes from single CDs
The Goodmen:
- released "Give It Up"
- drumbeat from above was used in Simply Red's "Fairground"
