I'm not sure if this is the right forum but seems the most appropriate.

I used to keep most of the boxes my components came in, mainly in case of warranty returns etc. For me, space has become a bit of a premium so I need to clear out but I've started to think about potentially selling some things in the future like GFX cards, mobos and CPUs when the big upgrade itch kicks in to try take the edge of the costs and am wondering if I should hang on to the original boxes for these products. Not a big deal for things like CPUs but a couple of mobo boxes and a 3 gfx boxes starts to take up a lot of room.

People that sell/buy second hand components, how important is original packaging for you? Is it a big deal or unimportant as long as it's all packaged well?

I figure members market is a better place to ask but I don't have access yet. Apologies if it's the wrong place.

I tend to keep everything, although at this point I really need to get rid of some of it.

If you want to sell something on, the original packaging it came in will generally be the easiest way to package it up. Everything fits nice and is protected.

Hi, l always keep original boxes and static bags, etc they all go inside the case box, warranty returns etc.

This also helps when coming to sell a component when it comes in its original box and contents it helps to keep the selling price.

For me I would rather buy something second hand if it's in it's original packaging. Though from the MM I would be more trusting that somebody could pack an item well enough without it.

I personally keep hold of mine "just in case"

Usually go into the loft and see a box and wonder how long ago I had that particular hardware though

Keep all my boxes and packaging, helps in keeping items safe if removed and easier to sell items too.

I keep a lot of mine mainly as I like looking at the shiny box it came in. Bit of a collectors thing I think. :o

Not important at all, I've bought and sold both and if something is several years old, would you honestly expect it to come in its original packaging? Never had any complaints from buyers. So long as it works as advertised thats all they're interested in.

At the end of the day, if you're buying something second-hand and the only difference you can see between two different products is that one of them has originally packaging and the other doesn't, you'd probably pick the one with packaging all things being equal.

Yup keep all mine in the loft just in case I have to send something back for an RMA or decide to sell it on.

I keep them all, if its components for a build I put them all in the case box so I know it went with that build. Then every so often Ill have a clear out then discover I wanted that box I just binned.

I used to keep them incase I needed to return anything. Planned on maybe storing them for a couple of months but at xmas had a clearout and found boxes for parts bought 2 years ago o.O

I keep hold of mine, but I sometimes think "why the hell am I keeping hold of some ram packaging for ram that is probably now valued at £5"

I usually keep boxes for my most recent generation of parts (Eg: stuff in my sig) and anything older than that I throw the boxes to make more space for my new components
