Product mislabelling / misinformation

85% fat free = Still contains 15% fat.
No added sugar = Contains sugar already (dosent mean no sugar was added)
Unlimited use = No not really, fair use policy.
Those are the ones i can remember for now, please feel free to add what you think it is a product mislabelling and setting the record straight. Thanks.

PS
Why do manufactures get away with stuff like this anyway?

The only one wrong there is the "Unlimited" use broadband packages with a fair use policy.

It's either unlimited (as in, no limits), or it's limited to a degree (fair use policy)

Funny enough most people think everyone is wrong.

Unlimited use in regards to Phone calls, internet usage, eat-as-much-as-you-like and stuff like that are subject to fair use policy i think.

'HD Ready' - Oh brilliant HD TV is here, fabulous, but whats that!! It LOOKS THE SAME!?

The old favourite, GB/MB etc. etc. in hard drive sizes.

Only if you're stoopid. ;)

I agree regarding the 'fake' gigabyte/megabyte. Something should really be done to sort that out.

I don't recall the last time I saw a DFS store without "OMGZ 345% OFF! BOGOF BUY NOW NEXT YEAR SAUSAGE FACE" written across the windows.

Thats some freaky DFS stores you've seen. If you dont have a sausage face, you should complain that it offends you.

The ones I've seen usually have endless "double discount" days and bank holiday offers that always seem to be ending soon.

Indeed, my connection is "Unlimited 1Mb connection" and they claim they don't block any p2p access. What do I get? All filesharing programs blocked and if i'm lucky, i can use about 10% of my available bandwidth of an evening. I know they have fair use policys and all that, but if I wanted an internet connection to browse the web and read emails then I would subscribe to one. Of course when you start trying to use their "unlimited" service as if it were an unlimited service, it violates their fair use policy.Oh and a 1 year contract rounds of the package nicely

That is the best thing I have read all week :D

Made from fruits, contains 100% fruitt etc = made from concentrate, cant be 100% fruit as it will NEED to have other thing inside it, for examle pH buffers, preservatives etc.

100% organic = Please dont waste your money, the word organic has been redefined in this country to accumulate the growth of plant with the use of pesticides etc. (even though they will claim it is minimal, well i will say it no longer qualify to be called ORGANIC)

Up to (insert figure) mb download speed = i so dont think so, the "up to speed" was probably done in a test enviroment, you wont acheive that kind of speed in real life and everyday use.

Free range chicken = No not at all, "free range" has been once again redefined to accumulate mass chicken production.

Same reason you get away with your sig containing possibly misleading and misinformed information?? ;)
I got the spoon and I'm stirrring :) and joking of course :p

I learned not to trust packaging and everything years ago. You just have to remember to read what they dont tell you - if you get me.
Looking for a house the other day, the estate agent was talking to me about the misdescriptions act, and a conversation he had with a vendor:
"5 minute walk to city centre" - "Not if you walk slowly due to poor hips"
"ok, convenient location?" - "Hmm thats down to personal interpretation"
And so it went on...

I set up a customers new LCD and they will then ask if I have set it up in HD.

I then have to explain what the situation is and usually what the hell HD is as there friend has a "HD" so they thought they would get one.

Fruit juice is a preservative. Orange juice lasts a long time. Want an apple NOT to go brown, put a little lemon juice on it. That's food technology, that is.

Sadly, the Soil Association begs to differ, and they control the standard. Yes, they have given in to consumer demand, and the realization that some of the requirements of a true organic standard would have compromised animal welfare and/or wasted huge quantities of otherwise perfectly usable vegetables and fruit.

I've never seen one of these yet that doesn't have a little asterisk/superscript character next to it, that, when you read the small print tells you that you are actually paying for something only slightly faster than two baked bean tins and a piece of string.

Again, there is a worldwide standard for Free Range that compromises the truest meaning of it to allow the animals to huddle together for warmth inside a shelter IF THEY WANT TO during the hours of daylight and then locks them away at night, or would you rather the foxes ate them?

Basically, I disagree with your whole premise. Producers make/grow things as cheaply as possible. Sales people want to sell them for as much as possible. They use sales tactics and advertising. As an informed consumer we all have to use our wits to keep up with them.

But the Brussels beaureaucrats are trying to get their way again - we won't be able to buy chocolate soon - you'll be able to buy Chocolate Flavoured Vegetable Fat. And a sausage will be a Product Prepared with Pork Meat and Cereal Products and By-Products.

Happy now?

Hey relax man, im only saying what i think. Seriously i think we are being misinformed or better still existing rules are bended or modified to suit their need and agenda.

Free range as i understand means free, come to nigeria and you will understand what free range means - those animals roam around freely without restrictions and only come "home" at sunset, no one keep them in a cage or confined location and claim "free range".

The vast majority of products out there are completely factually correct, they are exactly what they say on the label. If you can't be bothered to read and interpret the information properly how is that their fault?. I generally never read any of that rubbish anyway and read the small print (or dietary information on food packets) for myself, I mean it's not that hard is it?
