Alright folks.

Basically, work is pretty quiet right now, and probably will be quite slow over coming winter too. So I spend a lot of time sitting around between jobs.

This is starting to bore the hell out of me so I was thinking of doing something to occupy the time.

What could I do casually over the next 6 months.

I was thinking maybe learning to play Poker or something through books. (maybe a daft idea)

Any educational vocations worth aiming for?

Any suggestions are good for me as well! I've got another week and a half before "off" after 2 weeks already and I'm getting so bored.

Problem is the laziness hits and even if you have stuff to do you just can't be bothered to do it... :(

You think a productive use of your spare time is to learn poker?! Come on, learn a new skill, read some non-fiction, anything but that!

I just remembered something on here a while back when lots of people were playing and it seemed like an interesting game to play. Ya right though , its not exactly the most useful skill lol :)

Given your job I couldn't advice on anything that could benefit you learning in that career maybe others will do.

But more for your self could you learn a new language or work on a subject you were weak at and want to improve on. Learn about something that has interested you but you have never had the time available to look into?

If you have the abililty and work are ok with it work on fitness or improve if your already lucky enough to be fit. Learn to play type of instrument maybe.

Not sure how interesting a blog on drinking and takeaways would be ;)

I dont have a computer at work so I would be limited to Books, Printouts etc.

And Moss is right, definitely lead a VERY boring life up here on base.

Duggan your suggestions are good, I cant really learn much about my trade in the time I have (on a course in March so Ill be bogged down with work), but I think brushing up on my Maths or something might be useful. If anyone knows any books or anything that would be great thanks.

I would do one of the following:

- get stoned
- search interwebs for another job where you won't be sat around bored for a lot of time
- get stoned
- ****
- learn summit
