Prog required. Scanning sheet music onto pc

My mates dad plays in a band. He wants to find some software that will allow him to scan all his sheet music onto a laptop that he can then use to display the music when playing.

Does anyone have any info on software that will do what he wants?

Neuratron Photoscore will do it, but it ain't cheap.
Photoscore Lite's included with (some) versions of Sibelius, but it also isn't cheap

Wouldn't a normal scanning app that comes with the scanner scan the tabs as images then you could put them in a power point presentation with relevant timings to turn the page? Alternatively try http://www.power-tab.net/downloads.php which is a programme that I use which plays tabs in a midi form while highlighting the correct notes to play at the same time. There are 1000's of tabs already on the site and you can make your own in it as well although I'm not sure about the scanning part which was what you were asking for!
