Program for recording streaming audio (bbc radio)

My girlfriend was on bbc radio Nottingham this morning, and she would like the clip saves so she can add it to her portfolio (shes studying broadcast journalism)

Is there a program that can record/save these streams, all i can think of is to hold a microphone up to my speakers!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How about Windows Sound Recorder ??

Audacity is free and a pretty decent sound recording program.
Has a lot of sound editing options that windows sound recorder dosent have aswell.

- USB sound interface >> minidisc or MP3 recorder / player?
- creative recorder
- nero soundtrax
etc.

Sounds like something you need a search warrant for.

no nothing like that, all radio stations have to keep recordings for 42 ish days just in case they get a complaint, now if you did something more than a vox pop (random people on radio) which i assume is the case as she is doing broadcast journalism, just ask one of the producers to give you an ROT.

much better quality to.

EDIT: also get round some of the legal implications of recording radio programs.

She got a ROT from her first appearance on the show, now she just wants to keep a record of her work without bothering the dj and producers.

There are programs that use winpcap to capture the packets as they are streaming from the server, I believe that BBC use realplayer for the majority of their content. These programs are normally not free and quite tricky to use, Audacity is a much easier way of doing it and you will end up with the same quality.
