Hi, my bro's been offered a 17" samsung monitor, not sure on version, and was wondering if there is a program available that will tell you the spec of the panel - for example responce time, brightness, contrast ect???
Is there such a program out there? just different revisions of screens means the possibliity of getting different specs than fisrt thought are pretty high.
Thanks.

I am sure there should be one out there as there are programs readily available for checking dead pixels on the screen, that might also be of help to you. If anyone knows any useful programs to check this I require this too :D

Many thanks!

not really, none that will tell you spec. Best thing to do is check the model number and if in doubt about revisions, maybe we can help here :)

yeah its called google. its cool, all you have to do is type the name of your monitor and and it'll eventually pull up the details......

//being serious for a second, as far as i know monitors dont pass any info regarding what panel they contain. so, short of opening it up and having a poke around, your only option is the net or the fine people here who might know a bit about the monitor in question:)

Thanks for the replys, was the kind of answers I was expecting. Will get the model number and check it out.
The main reason I was looking for a way to tell what panel is in it is due to many companys bringing out different revisions of the same screens, but all under the same model number. Two screens with the same model number might have slightly different specs, like different response times or better brigtness/contrast specs and that is what I was trying to find out.
Foe example my dad has a AG Neovo F-417 that has a responce time of 12ms. Now since he got it there has been 2 revisions of this screen, 1 with a 8ms respomce and the newest with 4ms. Now all 3 screens are identical bar the panel used, and are all sold as as F-417. So apart from going off what the seller tells you there is no way of telling what screen you've got.
Maybe a google of the serial number when I get it off him will help????
