Program to monitor time spent in applications

I like to record the time I've played games for and have been using xfire to do so for years.

It's not great and their game support seems to be very slow.

Is there any software I can use to record the amount of time a certain application is open on my computer and store the stats locally?

I'm not interested in the stats being online, or the software being social like xfire is, I just want something to record the time spent in game (preferably an offline piece of software).
