It doesn't matter how much graphic card memory you have with 2 or 3 cards in xfire, you can only use and access the amount on one single graphic card
but does this mean i'm nearly running out of memory?
Thats memory usage of one card, if you click at the bottom were it says
AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series
then choose the other card, it will show the memory usage of the other card also

Setting aside pc memory might be different but 99% sure max gpu memory is limited to single card regardless of xfire
Looking at those gpuz screen's its using 300mbs of ram atm, doesn't it store the readings to text? That way you can see how much its used while gaming
Basically any data stored in one card will also be copied to the other cards in crossfire/SLi. So no need to look at the others...
It's crossfire but it's technically not true crossfire. Sort of like hybrid crossfire which AMD calls "Dual graphics". Not sure how the memory will work then... but probably best to set it to 2gb to match your 6670. There are some programs which adds all the memory together such as MSI afterburner, so you need to half this to get the true usage.
And don't just use BF3, it's one of the very few games that actually eats VRAM. Most other games won't reach the limit.

can tell me if u like

BF3 is using 1220MB per card.
I believe the "Dynamic" value is the swapfile in your system RAM used to hold data not required in VRAM, while you're gaming. Stuff like Thumbnail Previews, Window Transparency data, etc. At least, that's the only way I can see Microsoft claiming Aero has no performance impact on the GPU.
no need for 4GB one? i take it 4GB cards are more for the higher res like 1080/1200.
i wasnt sure whether it was dynamic or dedicated that got used most, but dedicated would sound right thinking about it,idk if 263mb of that is reserved per card for dynamic or whether its system/pc memory that gets used
it depends on what resolution your playing at imo,the higher above 1920x1080 then more than 2gb graphic card memory will help on any game

Ok thanks for that.
So it is the Dedicated ram i should be watching.
So a single 670 2GB would run fine @1920x1200 in bf3 thenno need for 4GB one? i take it 4GB cards are more for the higher res like 1080/1200.
i'm thinking of moving to single card. i would go amd, but the nvidia seem to run better in bf3! from what iv'e read. i would have gone amd other wise.
It's all i play really, apart from rfactor f1.
Cheers![]()
after a quick 64 player game the GPU Z logfile shows 2106 mb dedicated 290 dynamic
so i am guessing on my llano 3870k based system with a HD6670 it is actually using the whole 2gb deticated to the igp and a little of the HD6670 memory am i right?
Just for the record,I play at ultra and 1920x1080 and runs smooth for me with 7850
