I have an old hard drive that has about 10gig of tunes on, but from an old Itunes library, so they aren't all sorted in compilations/albums but in folders by artist,(where the cds are compilations strangely).

I hate Itunes, hate it. Is there an program out there that will read an itunes library file, and consolidate all these folders into a working playlist.

Thanks.

just use a media player that scans a folder (or entire drive) for just audio files. i don't see why you need something to read an itunes library file??

if they're scattered all over the place, a decent player will probably have options to consolidate them all in a single folder and can create custom folder/filenames based on the tags within the file.

Could you not do a *.* search on the drive and then copy all the individual files into one folder?

I seem to have solved the problem. A program called Musicbee, added the files and established the track names and album names. Probably was barking up the wrong tree to be honest, trying to find a program that would just read the playlist.
Gone are the days of 15gig of music taking an hour to sync, what with SSD's.
