Programs causing sound to stutter and mouse to jerk

I've narrowed the problem I've been having down to a software issue. If I leave uTorrent running and a few web pages open for a couple of hours I can't do anything (refresh web page, move mouse, copy files) without the sound stuttering and the mouse jerking. If I close uTorrent or the open web pages everything seems fine.

If I reboot the PC I can use uTorrent, listen to MP3 and surf all the the same time without any problems.

It's looking like over time one or more applications are hogging resources. I've checked the CPU usage which doesn't really shed much light on the situation.

Any ideas?
 
Your not using bitdefender 2009 are you? I have this problem with bd but it dies down after it has scanned all the files on my os disk.... pain in the ass at times
 
try disabling bit defender (oh noes :p) ...uac and also the constant hard disk thrashing thing(that speeds up ur searches)....lol its been a while since i used vista and i cant remember what its called.

u can enable them again 1 by 1 ...its just a test to see if its vista thats slowing it down or u have other problems .

oh yeah disable the antivirus too whilst ur at it...they usually cripple performance..

oh wait...before u do any of the above...go into utorrent preferences and disable additional bittorrent features.

i remember i had problems with them at 1 time...even though its sorted now.

u can also limit the amount of connections ur connected too...some network cards have problems with too many...try max 50 at first then go up if thats ok.
