Programs randomly uninstalled

Hey guys,

i got up this morning to find that Office 03, Windows Live Messenger, Firefox and the Netgear Storage Utility (for my SC101) had all uninstalled. I looked in the Restore Points and found that a restore point had been made at about 7am for Office, WLM and Netgear, but nothing for Firefox.

I ran the restore, and WLM and Netgear are up again ok, but Office has been screwed up and will not run (missing files). I had to download and install Firefox again myself.

Looking through the event viewer, all i can see is that at just before 7am, the computer restarted, then the programs were uninstalled.

Everyone in the house was asleep at this time, so i'm wondering if this could be a virus, although Avast has had no warnings and is currently scanning with no results.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be, coz im completely stumped and a tad worried that programs can uninstall themselves while i sleep.

Cheers in advance

Ok, an update on this.

I've just logged onto my main computer (the one in the first post was the main computer for everyone) and have found that both Firefox and Warcraft have disappeared. No record in restore point or error log. Just gone.

Tried to restore to an earlier state, it brought WoW back, but most of the files were still missing, so a full reinstall is needed.

Also, managed to get Office working again on the first PC.

Please can someone help me figure out WTF is going on here. like the first one, my PC isn't finding any virus either (and yes it is up to date)

unplug your internet connection before you go sleep just to rule out someone taking over your pc lol.

then work from there

What windows is it?

I know at first i seemed to be missing a lot of icons for games, it was like Vista x64 was just deleting them at random whithout telling me.
