Joy of joys I've got a PCN from Hammersmith and Fulham council for a 'prohibited U Turn' :(. Wanting to know if it is worth fighting or not?

I turned where that white escort is. I'm pretty sure (but not certain) that I when into the junction you can see on the right a tad and then reserved back onto the main road and carried on

If I'm blatantly in the wrong I'll put my hands up and admit that I didn't know that doing a U Turn in that situation was wrong. I always thought there would be signage.

Speaking of signage, apprentice there was a no U-Turn sign on the road/junction that I may/may not have gone into slightly

Maybe that is what they are talking about (and if so would I have affected me considering that I did the manoeuvre well before the sign)?

Worth fighting or not? I'll swallow it if I have to but it seems a bit unfair

Thanks :).

The problem if you went into that lane to complete your U turn would have meant you'd be on the wrong side of the keep left bollard.

To be completely honest, I do think I was on the wrong side of the bollard, but does that really matter considering that what the PCN is for is for a completely different offence?

Another question - If I had completed the Turn 100% on the main road would it that have been illegal without a no U turn sign?

I am 99.99999% sure that there wasn't a 'No U Turn' sign on the main road (which is the location of the PCN), which makes me think that the sign on the 'private' road of the junction I turned into slightly (it'd have been ever so slightly) a bit redundant.

Is there any other situation (baring an obvious sign) where doing a U Turn is 'Prohibited'?

I know where that is, there is a no U-Turn sign just after you pass under the Westway, and applies all the way down to the next set of lights.

You can just see them here:

Unlucky. I've U-turned there a few times, but never got a ticket.

Oh that sucks.

How am I supposed to know that one sign is supposed to cover an entire road!?

Cheers for that though.

Unless the clever loophole blokes can get them on paperwork it looks like I've got to get the wallet out :(.

Seems the OP is bang to rights anyway?

I don't think so? I assumed that a no U turn sign at the previous junction/traffic island was just that, for the previous junction/traffic island and not that I was entering a No U Turn 'zone' where offenders would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law :p.

So I need to know what I'm doing here.

Is it worth appealing and if so on what grounds? I'm mindful of the 14 days which ends tomorrow

Thanks for the help.

I apologise if I sound a bit thick but 'legal' talk does go through me :p. What are you saying that I should appeal on exactly?

Play on the fact that the sign was extremely unclear?
Argue that I did a 3 point turn and not a u turn?
Argue that the paper work implies that I can only appeal on one ground.
Or go at it with all barrels and get them on all grounds?

Again, thanks all for the help :).
