Yellow led for raystorm block, which is orange :(, needs changing
The pump which is in the above basket is the aquabus version.

Still not sure to go xfire or not yet or just wait for the 8970 lightning

Its up and running and working well with great temps, just not got very good chips in the cpu and gpu so clocks are lower than i wanted but are still more than good enough........................... for now ;)

edit. and whats not on the list is about the 12 packs of harribo. nom nom

And thx to 5UB for sorting me out.

SSD not staying where it is, need an adapter, just done clean install and aquaero is in but need more extensions :(, just waiting to order final items(week) then i can get to work!!!

oh and cables will be sorted, either sleeved properly or i may buy some of the bitfenix ones

and yes i know cpu cooler is wrong way round, but its coming off shortly, so left as it was.

new bits :)

SAM_0903.jpg

my god its close!! in fact its touching!! may have to get the saw out!!
SAM_0902.jpg

*WARNING*
This will only work on IVY's, sandybridge heatsink top is soldered.

well got a 3770k about 5 days ago and after a little play i thought temps were a little high!!

this is running prime for 10mins @4.4ghz/1.25v
lidded.jpg

so did a little reading and thought what the heck i'm gonna have a go!!!
plus going under water so thought that it would benefit from the operation.

lid on.
SAM_0904.jpg

Under the knife, slowly slowly!
SAM_0907.jpg

voila, lid off!
SAM_0908.jpg

time to clean that mess off, did it the best i could for now as i need some better tim, used AS 5 for now.

SAM_0909.jpg

all back together in my PC, it fires up!!! nice, i've not killed it!
right same test, 10 mins of prime and NO settings changed.

delid.jpg

Well i'm happy with those results, took me half an hour from start to finish, well worth it, and the temps should get better when the tim cures a little:D

Confused as to why you'd need more than 1L of fluid to be honest if you're only doing the CPU, unless the tubes are going to the Alps and back?

Mine is on GPU + CPU with a 360 rad and takes less than 1L with a 250mm res.

as tittle says, 1st time!!! anyhow sure i will end up doing the gpu's then i will already have it:), so 2 gpu blocks and a 240 monsta to add, probably need it then?????

I see that sort of money being spent and I immediately think about a Ivy-E setup... £2k+ on a 4 core 8 thread gaming machine is a difficult one to swallow.

1. You should get free shipping with an order like that. Check the FAQ's about it for loyal forum members which I'm certain you will qualify for.
2. Is 1 rad going to be enough? It looks like you're doing one loop, and the fluid s going to be pretty warm by the time you've gone through the CPU, then the first GPU... I'd be tempted to split the loop to cool the flow before the CPU via the monstra, and maybe fit a 2.120 rad also. Adds to the cost, but lowers the temps on entry to the GPU's.

Did think about sb-E, but had impulse buy with the mpower. Besides it will last me quite a few years, so i am happy with what i have chosen.
When i cool the gpu's will be adding a 240 monsta.
For now 1 loop will be fine for my first attempt at WC, and when i put the gfx under water, i shall look at my options then. Thanks for the advice though it is most appreciated.

it is pushing down, i think i can push the rad further into the case, but this does mean drilling holes then it should clear it......... hopefully.
the mobo heatsink stands proud so if i can push the rad 6-10mm back then it will clear.
*Rich* what temps are you getting with your i7 and what volts ya using?

Nice build so far. Subbed...

One thing that I don't understand is why people are removing the IHS from the CPU, and then replacing it. For years the die was exposed to cooling blocks, and I certainly had no problems. Are the packages so thin nowadays that they are more fragile or something?

The tim which is used under the ihs is poor quality and by changing it can reduce temps by 5-15c, which when used with a watercooled setup will help me push that little bit further.

I think what hes asking is why is there need for the ihs at all when chips like the old bartons etc just mounted direct onto the core themselves
If he's asking me, at this moment in time, i couldn't if i wanted too due to my cooler mounting bracket. But when i get my cpu waterblock then i will probably give it a go.
