Ok im new to the whole pc building scene, This is the first PC iv ever built and im going straight in there with water. As i don't have the experience or tools most of the case modding is been done by our good friend Tom but my case isnt bk yet and i cant hold on any longer so i thought i would show you my first ever mod. It took me a lot longer than i expected but its something iv never seen done before.

Spec as follows:

E8500,
2x2Gb dominators,
Asus blitz formula,
Sammy 750Gb F1,
BFG 8800 GTS OC,
Silverstone 850w PSU,
PA 120.3 in roof,
Single Cpu loop but possible second GPU loop,
Black and red Devil scheme.
Lian-li A70B, Powdercoated black internals, Mobo cuts, vandal Switches.

Well lets start!

I was interested in buying this part but didn't find any i fancied so after thinking it over i had a idea. :D

Enter a 850cc mini engine that has been stood for 20 odd years.

So glad someone invented the airgun. 15 mins later shes split and ready for some hammering.

first one not so bad.

DSC00142.jpg

Other 3 a total pain as the barrels had totally rusted up. 2 broke but still good to go.

Now to lose the conrods.

I think the front of the case looked kinda plain so i went and got a HD bay rack for it but the way my roof rad barbs sat there was no room to get it in so the top needed a little modding (excuse the nasty cuts all i have is a 4" grinder with a 1mm cutting disc).

As did the front face to fit the new switches, although tom had sorted it for the bottom one, the top still didn't clear.

not so bad once painted.

DSC00227.jpg

imo they look way nicer than the stock silver ones that feel really cheap and once wired up will tie in the theme a little more.

DSC00230.jpg

last but not least started braiding the ugly front panel connections, before i ran outa braid.

DSC00220.jpg

ppl say you either love or hate braiding, well i hate it so far but im still getting the hang of it and i haven't cut myself yet so it could be worse!

ok well my net got cut but it gave me time to get some bits done and parts to arrive. got the feet made from the pistons polished and fitted. still tempted to get them anodized but there ok for the moment.

DSC00258.jpg

Also more cutting, decided that i will never have more than 4 hard drives so got rid of half the cage to make room for a second loop if i decide to.

DSC00247.jpg

Finally saved up enough for a decent PSU.

DSC00261.jpg

After a little practice soldering i had a crack at wiring up the delrin switches, took awhile with a fair bit of trial and error but got them wired up so the hd activity shows on the reset switch to lose the stock case led's. Also had a fan controller, everytime i tried the temp sensor with the tape on my hd it killed the sensors so iv given up on that for the moment. had to cut the controller to as it didnt sit perfectly flush with the front of the case but pretty happy with it now. Added some akasa red led fans but there stupidly load so may change them for more scythe s-flex's.

Rest fitted and leak testing.

Planning on changing the fluid to either UV red or changing my UV cathodes to red or white, also got a little braiding to finish but i couldn't wait to get it running. Will get some decent finished shots when i get a decent camera. Btw Whats the best thing to clean the marks off the black anodized? It actually feels pretty satisfying to have built it myself and will be doing it as often as i can afford. Comments plz

Great work, cant believe anyone would go to that effort just to make some fancy feet.

well done :)

ima add a pa120.2 prolly in the front for graphics. mobo is kinda old now so do that when the new sockets are out. meths cleans nicely. :)

first go at clocking.

4ghzclock.jpg

up to 1.4v's is ok on these chips? as this is overclockers can someone gimme a few pointers? should i trust real temp over everest? everest reads 5 degrees higher than real temp. its maxing out at 49 underload with these volts. also will the divider make any difference to performance?
