So i have finally decided to watercool my pc (lady was complaining for the loud fans and i was getting frustrated at the temps) and here is the project:

  • Thermaltake Xaser III full tower
  • AMD Phenom II 965 BE
  • Gigabyte HD 4670
  • ASUS M4A77TD PRO
  • 4 GB Kingston 1600Mhz
  • 3 x SATA HD
  • 1 x ATA HD
  • 1 x DVD-R

For the cooling we are looking at:

  • MagiCool 360 Copper Radiator III
  • Magicool Revision II block
  • blue UV tubing
  • Submersion pump
  • Custom reservoir
  • EK-VGA Supreme HF - Nickel Acetal (had to be returned - uncompatible)
  • XSPC X2O VGA Single Core Waterblock (to replace EK block)
  • XSPC Delta V3 Chipset - Acetal

Also as i want to add a kick to it, i am now working on a modular LED lighting system. Details to follow but allready here 50 UV leds and some orange uv reactive molex connectors and orange sleeving ;)

got back home to find my d70 messing with me and a strange error on the display... no pics yet, if i can't fix the camera i'll have to steal the iphone from the lady ;)

simply replacing a dodgy battery retuned the camera to life just to find out the card reader is dead and have to import photos from the camera at low speed :(

I encountered a little problem during the fitting of the rad: the psu which sits right behind it was way too close to give a good airflow so had to drill a couple of holes in the case and put it vertically. This came to a benefit as now the 120mm fan in the psu sucs in the air that comes throught the rad.

You can see the leds haning around there poorly connected. This is to check what it will look like one the proper led syustem will be in place so more to come.

Also cash has run out so i'm having to hold back vefore i can get a new psu and proceed with the proper sleeving of the psu.

Should be working on the modular led system this weekend ;D
 
First of all, nice water cooling rig, looking nice, but two big problems.

One.

What in all that is holy is up with the cable management. Get some cable ties and try and sort them out a bit. The case is very bad for cable management and you need to sort them out, especially as you have a window on the side looking in.

Second of all, why water cool a 4670?

Apart from that looks cool.

If he had something like a 6950 or GTX560Ti or better then yea, worth it, but a 4670??? My toaster produces pixels at a better rate than that card. No point.

As I said, looks cool, nice project but complete overkill.

well i'm doing my best at the moment. unfortunally i had some unplanned MOT expenses and a dentist bill that killed my allowance so have to wait for new gfx and psu.

I have sleeving ready for when the new psu comes in but i see no point in doing it now as it will be a waste of time and material.

As far as the gfx goes i know it's a bit too much to wc that card but i kept having issues with bf3 as the card would just freeze after 30 minutes due to overheating. I replaced the thermal paste and cleaned the zalman coooler but that didn't do the job so i picked that block up. To be honest for £10 is doing a hell of a job. HAd 3 hours bf3 sessions with no problems at all.

Indeed the case is not ideal. It's quite old and the way things are mounted around is not exactly my cup of tea anymore but back when i bought it (8 years ago) i thought it was extremely sexy and i'm still in love with it. This wil be changed with my next project which includes a custom made case btw.

This weekend i should be working on the best part of it anyway, will show pics later. I think a lot of people in here will like the idea ;)
 
right i'm now looking for suggestions here. i keep finding air bubbles in the top end of the cpu waterblock, if i squeeze the pipe after the Y splitter that goes to the gpu i can see the flow increasing and the bubbles being flushed out the system. Could this be due to the Y splitter not splitting the flow properly?
The splitter in question is the top one wich comes from the rad. I'm also thinking about changing the way the flow works so from the rad it will go to the splitter and one pipe to the gou while the other will be changed to go throuth the chipset first and the cpu afterwards. This way the water will work it's way upwards and not downward.
Any suggestions?

(yes i know i should concentrate on cable management but i allready told the story...)
 
to be honest i stole the idea from someone else, it was cheap and at hand at the time so i gave it a go. As per the tapperware, i was looking at a cheap solution and a res for £1 can't be beaten.
