Hey!

About a month ago I ordered all the components I would need to build a new system, finally today I got around to starting a build. I've decided to attempt this in a few phases just because if I do it all in one I'll never get it done.

Starting off I had to get all my old components out and into another case as I'm reusing my Graphite 780T case. I picked up a fairly cheap Carbide Spec-03 case for the old components as I'm giving it all to my old man.

Old Spec:

i7 4770K
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600Mhz
MSI GTX 980Ti
Samsung 850 Evo mSATA 128GB
Corsair AX760

So I stuck it all in the case in a quick and dirty build, first attempt was a bit of a failure, the BitFenix CSR cables I had don't want to play ball with the AX760. Ended up pulling them out and putting the originals back in, it's tidyish, but I guess I could have done better given some more time.

So onto my new spec:

i7 6950X
MSI X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon
128GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2666Mhz
2x MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X
Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVMe 512GB
Samsung 850 Pro SSD 1TB
Corsair H105 AIO Cooler
Super Flower 1600W PSU
Corsair Graphite 780T
Various Corsair fans

With everything out of my existing case, I stripped it down for a good clean. I also disconnected some of the top panel cables, the ones that are for the fan controls (I won't be using them).

I've got everything built, not tested yet, will do that in the morning as I need to re-organise the man cave and make some more space for the case on my desk.

Here is a collection of some pictures I took on my phone as I went along. They aren't that great.

For the next phase I've got a load of sleeving (red & black) and all the tools and pieces I need. I want to sleeve all the cables from the PSU as well as fans etc., but I've never done it before so I'm going to take my time with it.

Going all in I see!

Would have gone with a better memory kit and motherboard personally. Also, lose the flexi bridges. You'll be losing a fair bit through those.

Last I heard the 2 flexi SLI bridges will allow exactly the same bandwidth as the new Nvidia HB bridge. The change is on the cards not in the SLI bridge itself allowing the card to use both SLI connectors, 2 x flexi will max this out. Even Nvidia have recommended people use 2 x flexi to get exactly the same results as the new HB bridge whilst they were waiting for it to come out. I plan to do exactly the same as the new HB bridge does not fit with EK Waterblocks.
