Ok, this is my first build. Designed to be a budget non-gaming pc.

With the following spec;
Asus P8Z68-V LX
i5-2500K
Gelid Tranquillo rev 2
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz low profile black
Coolermaster 690 II advanced
Antec Truepower New 550W (Originally Coolermaster GX 650W)
Sony Optiarc DVD drive
Arctic cooling mx-4

Parts are due to get here sometime over the weekend. Probably no later than monday. Will post again with pictures and annotation when I've built it.

UPDATE: Received most of the items today(all except the case and PSU), unfortunately I ordered the wrong RAM. I looked at the brand, line, voltage and price but not the actual GBs. Only when I looked at this morning and I saw 4GB instead of 8GB did I begin to question things. Naturally I'm returning them, in the mean time I'll be ordering a new set of RAM. (22/02)

UPDATE 2: Getting better PSU. Sold Coolermaster GX 650W to a friend and bought Antec Truepower new 550W. (23/02)

sounds like a good basis, what gfx are you going for or are you looking to use the onbaord?
Onboard. Would have gone for a Z68AP-D3 but I'm using an old monitor which uses VGA(The gigabyte doesnt support VGA). I'm seriously considering not putting the DVD drive in the case - just connecting it up, installing anything I need to and then putting it away. Got a pretty good price for most of these items(cost me £430>).

i would look at tying the cables like this, things like the i/o and front panel cables where the green line is, the cable ties will loop through the designed loops, and the spare power cables ect where the purple line is, so it can hide them under the spare hdd bays, keeps them nice and neat and out of the way, and you can get at them easier if you need them

Ehhh, when I get more cable ties, I don't have enough to sort it out right now. Also, I did it that way because there was already that cable tie at the top left.
