Hiya guys,

Just thought I would post up here my latest scheme that has managed to rile the missus no end so hence the title:o

Well here is the start of my new build. Im gonna log it and post on here pics etc for some constuctive pointers.

Its older tech but still performs very well for me and my daily needs, so for now there isnt a need to massively upgrade.

Its mainly the parts from my old rig however im going with a new case and sli'd gpu's along with a lot more cooling ( 4 rads ) dual loop.

So for kick off the specs:

Rig Specs

Corsair 800D
Q9650
Asus Striker2 NSE 790i
2 x GTX 280's 1 x Asus 1 X Gainward
4gb Corsair 1600 DDR3 Dual Channel
1000w Psu
1 x 80gb Intel-M
2 x 150gb Velociraptors
1 x 1tb Western digital black

Cooling specs:

1 x Apogee GTZ 775 Block
2 x EK GTX 280 blocks
1 x XSPC 360 rad
2 x XSPC 240 rads
1 x Swiftech 120 Rad
2 x Laing DDC pumps
1 x XSPC Dual loop res
4 x Sharkoon Silent Eagle fans ( CPU loop )
4 x Asaka Viper fans ( GPU loop )
1 x Scythe fan controller

There are numerous compression fittings and at the moment 5m of Feser UV reactive clear tube.

The general idea for the layout is as this pic:

So the first thing to do was to mod the bottom HDD cage. Very simple to do. Just remove the 6 rivets in the front of the case with a drill and then with a little force push out the drive enclosures. I found that the top 2 rivets gave the shelf a little more support so I replaced them with some self tapping screws after the removal of the HDD cage to add the support back in.

Pics to follow!

can the 360 not cool the CPU enough ? or you doing full cover M/B blocks as well ?

from my experience on the 800D, not sure it has enough clearance underneath to allow the 2 x 240to pull enough cool air ... also where are you going to exhaust it ??

I can see it fits but if you end up blowing warm air back out the bottom it will just recycle the warm air and you'll end up with crap GPU temps.

I need pics to be sure but hopefully you get my thoughts

The 360 could cope with my cpu easily I would have said but I saw the 120 cheap as chips brand new so bought it. I t was an impulsive purchase so now I have it its gonna be used, but im glad I did to because today ive just got back from work and my 790i mobo blocks have turned up, so im well chuffed now.

I see what your saying about the gpu rads but my thoughts were that as you will know there is a huge about of space behind the mobo tray and I was thinking of maybe trying to pull all the air up the back and do a bit of modding on the side panel to add a 120 fan to vent the air out of the case totally. Im not convinced yet on that one but I will have a look and measure up tommorow to see if its feasible.

I know both the rads fit exactly as I want them cos I have carried out a dry fit and whilst it is indeed tight they do fit and on the plus side add a bit of extra rigidity to the shelf seperating the psu / mobo compartments.

Hello fellas. Sorry for the long awaited response. Well the missus has been a total nightmare!! However we are still together ( worse luck lol ).

Anyhow a response on the build is thus:

Managed to get all my components back in,
case cut and grills fitted, ( still thinking of cutting the back panel, will explain later )
radiators all in place
790i mobo block bought ( still sitting in packaging )

and I thought I would do a bit leak testing.

GPU loop solid as a rock. No issues leak proof.

CPU loop complete flaming disater. 3 leaks. I could not believe it. One on each of my block fittings ( cpu ) and one on a rad.

The one on the rad actually turns out to be a rad defect!! grrr.

The 2 on the cpu are my mistake.

Long story short I think ive done some damage to my board so no pics to post as yet as ive got it all back in bits.
