Your graphics card cost £870. Yeah, my missus wouldn't be thrilled either. Nice specification aside from the price :)

Thanks, missus is ok about it, mainly because she doesn't know the price of a titan though :D

Nice to see a Switch build! Should be a nice clean build, look forward to seeing how this turns out.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to building it.

Considering the amount of PCI-E slots you have, you have 2 issues - 1) You're going to have to fork out for another Titan should you ever wish to SLI (Prob cheaper going for some 690s), and 2) You will need a new PSU should you ever go SLI as the minimum for a Titan is 600w and you're not too far over it.

Great build, must have cost a small fortune! DTTW indeed!! And never have I seen so many PCI slots...

Cheers, no plans to SLI in the near future, if the day ever comes when I can afford to drop another grand on a titan i'm sure i'll probably invest in a slightly bigger PSU. I am planning on getting a sound card and capture card at some point so the PCI slots will come in handy. Plus the 810 is so big a normal atx kind of looks small in it.

whats your budget ?

ive always loved the look of that motherboard :D

Thanks, I love the look of the MB, I think its a bit marmite with the stick on bullets but since it will be a FPS machine I think it looks awesome.
Don't really have a budget as I'm doing it in stages, watercooling next. Think I have spent £2700 so far and I still need to get monitors and watercooling.

Not sure, im undecided if I want to run 3 x 24" or just 1 really good quality 27", I think the latter would be more practical, maybe add a 24" at the side at some point for multi-tasking.

Thanks

To be honest I'm just catching up with all of the recent PC technology and I wasn't aware that they weren't going to be making more upgrades for the s2011. There is nothing stopping me sticking a 3930k and overclocking the nuts off it if I feel like my processor is lacking...which somehow I doubt I ever will, (well at least with this rig anyway).

If it ever comes to the point where I feel like I need to upgrade my processor then my motherboard will be getting upgraded also. I've tried so "future proof" the system somewhat so I don't need to upgrade for a few years.

I probably will go the SLI route once the price of the titan falls a bit or I can pick up a second hand one.

Yeah of course, but if everyone stuck to the idea that they won't buy something because the next big thing is around the corner then not much would get bought. I just wanted to get the most up to date hardware currently so it would at least last me a while.

OMG OMG OMG Large box of goodies arrived today and is sitting at home!!! Not home for another week, plus we are moving home and the other half is adamant that its going in storage until we move into our new house in 3 weeks! Can't wait that long.

whats that I spy in the white jiffy bag....could it be a titan?

Personally I think it's a waste of money, but each to their own

Have you seriously not told your wife? That's pretty bad considering the amount you've wasted on the titan  Quite hurtful IMHO

FYI I have told her, the title is a joke. It's my money and she doesn't care what I spend it on, I have my job and she has hers. Also in your opinion it's a waste and I don't want to come off as a d*ck but as far as I'm concerned its only a waste if you can't afford it and I am fortunate enough to be able to. I feel if you are building a system (or whatever you are doing in life) then it is well worth buying the best you can afford as it will tend to last you longer.

As for timescale I get back from offshore on Tuesday so hopefully I can get started then!

Thanks for all the comments.

God if I had the money I'd love to have a x79 build with a Titan/s.

Bet you can't wait to get it all built up.

I'm assuming you're waiting for IB-E, that's why you're only using a Quad...or am I missing something?

Hi yes, if the rumors are true a 4930K might be on the cards, not much point in spending £500 on a 3930k if they are coming along soon.

OP, this is going to be a sweet system. Before building anything, make a sandwich and a cuppa tea and read all manuals :)

Thanks, surely a real man discards all the manuals with the tattered remain of the boxes then wings it until he eventually breaks something..

Finally got home and managed to do a little unboxing! Unfortunately as we are in between houses the bulk of the equipment has gone in to storage for a few weeks, but managed to get my psu and GPU.

Bit odd but gigabyte felt generous enough to throw in a mouse pad and pack of cards...not bad for £900

You can really feel the quality with this kit, the psu came in its own velvet bag and even the cables had their own carry case! Really impressed with it so far.
