Project: First time build
Hi guys,
Console gamer converting for BF4 and have found a whole new world I never new about!
Spec as it now stands,
Cpu - FX8320 @ 4.2
Mobo - ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0
Cooler - H80i
Ram - 8GB Corsair LP 1600
Gpu - EVGA 780 SC w/ACX Cooler
SSD - Samsung Evo 250GB
HDD - 1TB Seagate Barracuda
Case - Corsair 300R
Psu - Corsair 600M
KB - Corsair K30
Mouse -Corsair M65
HS - Corsair 1700
OS - Win 8.1
Extra - 4x Corsair SP120
Corsair 300R - brilliant upgrade from my CM K280, a good case but the 300R has so much room, and is such an easy case to use.
Corsair H80i - The H80i for me was a PIG to fit, I have kind of large sausage fingers so the fiddly bits had me swearing like a Chelsea fan in the kids enclosure. My first step into WC.
New Corsair M65 & K30, I needed a decent KB&M for BF4 so I decided to splash out a bit.
And then the GPU - I would firstly like to thank AMD for the R9 series, because if they hadn't of released them now, Nvidia wouldn't of done an amazing price drop on there cards
Quite a decent upgrade from my GTX 660 SC which was still a very good card, ran the BF4 beta with no real issues at 60fps on high. So far I have only run Heaven 4.0 and it smashed the 660 score which is to be expected. Also got the 3 games bundles which is a ncie little extra.
All fitted and working well,
Here are some progress pics from the build, total time breaking down the old parts from the system took about an hour, building this took about the same.
I also bought x4 Corsair SP120 fans as I wanted to keep the build cool and the same brand. Have x2 120's on the front as intake, x2 on the top as exhaust, the h80i on intake and depending on the temps whilst gaming I may get another x2 for the side panel and exhaust the GPU heat a bit more, will have to see. As for noise I have decent headphones and a wife who doesn't seem to care about the jet turbine next to the tv!
Anyway apart from a few hiccups like putting mobo standoff's in the case and thinking why the mobo wasn't lining up to the I/O shield - because Corsair have pre mounted, pre drilled holes, (excellent idea) and trying for ages to fit the H80i, it was a fun build, a lot harder than the 1.0 vanilla build from last month.
Think this will last me a couple of years with only the odd upgrade. If I get a tax rebate maybe an I5 4670k and a mobo will be next, then another 780 will have to wait and see.
Thanks for stopping by, as you can see I'm kind of a Corsair fanboy, don't hate!
