My BMW F650 is off the road from now for a bit, I've got my MOD 2 mid next month so I need to complete before then.

My list of stuff to do

Put final baffle in = small welding shop down road welded in two captive nuts and gave me two allen bolts, sound much better with no spitting and barking when I slow down
Fix overheating = bridged fan for now is OK and await BMW to order a new
fan switch
Check oil = Ordered dipstick from BMW, original was swapped for oil temp guage with no marks, nice not, also the most complicated way of checking oil
Screen cracked = ordered a PUIG touring screen from Germany, about 12" taller, have fitted but is slightly bigger so doesn't sit properly, need bodging
Rear lens wobble = stripped down but the bolts have rusted up and need tightning, might need to find another somewhere
Rust = strip levers, stands, pegs, peg holders, crash bars etc for powder coating, just sitting in a box ready to be picked up
Rust = sand down bits can't get powder coated and paint hammerite smooth
Wheels = polish out pits, something to wait till all assembled
Rev counter = replace bulb might have a look at LEDs
Indicators = ones smoked so find another 3 or find 1 orange, don't know yet
Rear number plate = has been burnt by rear pipe so find another in pressed metal, where I don't know, the usual suspects don't do them
Plugs = old ones are rusty, surelyt time for a change
Pegs = old rubber ones are tatty, order new ones or look at something different
Datatag = has been but no paperwork, find out what the plan is
Handle bars = nothing really wrong with them and I didn't like Renthal on my bandit, investigate

Bit of a wish list as when I pass MOD 2 I bet i won't care about the little bits, I've stripped down so photos would be a bit pointless but when it's assembled I'll take some decent ones

I had one of those it was a bit of amoney pit for me
starter motor + fitting brackens 400quid:(
+ other bits i did enjoy the bike i had all the boxes + tankbag i done about 24,000 miles then sold it at 30,000 miles then got a real bmw 1100gs anyway good luck

Picked a load of bits up today from BMW,

New rear light, old one wobbled
New plate
New springs and rubbers for pegs etc
Stands pegs etc are away at powder coaters will be back next week

Finally got my dipstick so I can now check the oil
Replaced fan switch
New plugs, old ones were rusty outside but looked OK inside
Fitted rear light and plate, moved plate right up under the rear lens, now will trim down the rear spray guard as 4" hangs underneath, plate is legal from BMW can't be arsed with small plate I've got an Arrow pipe and a tinted visor to worry about
Also picked up s/h from the bay Givi Maxia top box, good condition and new plate, will fit when rear rack comes back from sandblasters

Anyone got any tips on painting a plastic luggage rack the originals are silver and someone has painted it black which is now flaking, where apart from Halfords can I get a can of paint????

Is it really plastic? Doesn't seems like the most suitable material for a luggage rack...

Anyway if it is plastic you will need to spray it with plastic primer before putting any topcoats on (and after removing all existing paint). Halfords sell it, but most motor factors should have something suitable.

Yes it's a hard solid plastic, it's the luggage rack that turns into the rear grab handles. I assume it flexes with the bike so maybe plastic is more appropriate??

Somone has painted it black but it's all flaking off, at the sandblasters now so hopefully will come back nicely etched and ready to spray

Still waiting for stuff to come back from powder coaters, so ordered last weekend the hot grip controller and wired it all up tonight, easy job, old hotgrips with new digital controller, works well, stops heating when your batteries low, so it's a mini indicator of charge as well, araldited the grips on, hope they never need to come off :p

The screen I bought stands a bit proud of the clocks and it really irritates me, it doesn't fit properly (patent parts :() so I got the drill out and lengthened the holes so it sits down a bit more.

I could do with some of that foam tape to take the last of the gap out and now need some washers to cover the bodge

Well today someone else rode it away :(

I didn't use it enough to warrant the expense, I've got my cabby to take the family out in now :)

Guy came from Cornwall (I'm near Gatwick) and has just text me to say it didn't skip a beat all the way back, I got a decent price for it maybe even made a couple of hundred and the Givi box is on Ebay which fetch a good price.

Future biking plans, keep my eye out for something to do up, maybe look in the winter oh and plenty more off road days as here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18272150 lid and all my gear is now boxed in loft :( wife thinks I'm selling it ;)

I got £1,300 without the box of which I expect to get £100+ for on Ebay, I think I got a good price as standard lower mileage ones go on Ebay for <£1000

Oh that's a shame! Why did you sell if you don't mind me asking? Im considering one of these all.g side a deauville for when I may ride again. Looked nice, good job.

Just wasn't using it enough to warrant the yearly cost, am converting the garage into a man cave and would have had to have kept it outside and watch it rot, also a bit selfish with two kids can't take them on it so bought an Escort Cabriolet with the proceeds.

Few different things but it was just the right time also right season to sell a bike.
