It has been about 2 years since I did a big project and i'm having trouble finding inspiration of doing something new and fresh, this thread serves the purpose of doing some research in what you would like to see from a project. I'm not in the position of doing another project anytime soon but it's nice to have a think once in a while about what I would like to do.

I have always thought of doing a server rack project, my desk is huge and I imagine it wouldn't be too much trouble to mount a mini server rack in one of the compartments. My initial thoughts are the Apple Xserve....

Now how sexy is that, if someone can find me an empty shell they will become my new best friend

How about go one better.

Make your own mini ITX or smaller cluster of computers in a custom 2U server enclosure.

Now that would be quite cool.

Another one I have been wanting to try is a mini ITX system in a speaker stand, with a T-Amp and using it as a inbuilt music system with touch screen. Again, I think that would be very nice.

Sadly, the amount of money I can throw at these things is slightly limited. To about nothing.

I agree Yewen, I think an ITX or even mATX system, in a custom enclosure. If your up for modding your desk, how about a small LCD screen cut into the desk surface.
