Project Irony "Glutton For Punishment".

Good news at last. The case is moving again with a courier called Asendia. From there it will end up with RM or Parcel force.

I’m heading back tomorrow because I need to be there for a PC I’m selling so yeah, the beans are cool.

I’ve also got an Alienware white monitor possibly lined up also.

Had rainforest imports come via "Asendia Inbound (Huxloe)" before. Ended up being delivered this end by Evri. Crossing my fingers that Evri are kind to you!

You can always rely on your mates to make you feel better about things.

Belm :D

Rad carrier arrived along with the USB C port cap. Oh and the PCB material and LEDs.

Will fit the AIO later.

Oh also. I damn near soiled myself earlier. I thought that having a 3090 option in this PC would mean it would have lots of GPU room. It does not. 11" apparently. Now given my 4080 Super is this big..

306.8mm x 119.4mm x 58.5mm / 12.1" x 4.7" x 2.3"

a little poo did come out. I then found out that Dawid had this issue in one of his videos, and if you remove the fan bracket and fan it will fit. So I ordered a couple of these..

I also realised you can indeed fit one into the side panel.

You can always rely on me to be comforting! :D
Would the 4080 fit if you put it on an air-cool diet and stuck a water block on it? Either as a DIY AIO or even an external rad/pump/Res box with QDCs?

It’s going in. I will need to cut the chassis but I’m sure it’ll fit once I do that.

Thankfully I have the smallest 4080 super you can get at 307mm. If I had yours I’d be completely screwed.

Mine's going on the water-cool diet...I just need to get round to finishing designing the water loop....and then finishing learning to machine the plates for the loop! :D

Bah that’s the keyboard.

It is coming with Parcelforce though.

Just bought a white Alienware monitor. Pics later.

OK this is the model I got. Was brand new, sealed in box for £238. RRP was £600, so I did well. They no longer sell white ones which sucks...

Got a new cable.

The key caps I bought were not a full set only 9 keys. Bit misleading that. So I grabbed these for a tenner.

I also decided to upgrade the mobo to WIFI 7 whilst it will be out.

Going back to the actual mod etc. There is nearly an inch more space in the front if I cut the steel out of the way. So I am praying the GPU fits. If not? I will need to get a bit more invasive, and I know I can get it there eventually.

OK phew. It will fit. This dude took out the fan and shroud and tapped it out with a hammer. in that area. I will just cut the metal out.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition (FE) is a large, triple-slot graphics card, measuring approximately 313mm (12.3 inches) long, 138mm (5.4 inches) wide/tall

panic over.

Keyboard arrived today. So did the monitor.

Case cleared customs at Heathrow earlier so should be here Monday with any luck.

Sat here waiting for my white keycaps to be delivered. They’re moving the goal posts on the time which infuriates me.

OK so again slow progress just like the GECK. The keyboard arrived yesterday and I then spent hours taking it all apart and cleaning it to within an inch of its life before fitting the keys. Unfortunately some of it is not standard. Like the space bar, and shift, and the keys along the bottom. However, a mate has some Corsair keys that will fit and they are white too.

It's an absolute friggin unit tbh. Moreso because of the macros along the left side. However, as someone who uses Photoshop a lot and does a lot of drawing etc? I can tell you a full size board is essential. It is a nightmare using smaller ones due to the lack of keys and mappable keys etc.

Very happy with that. Right on the nose of £30. I bought a white coiled cable for it, then realised it does not have a USB socket. However, all is not lost. I will buzz out the wires and solder in the back side of the coiled cable.

Or solder a socket into the keyboard so you can change in future? You change the colour of stuff more than my wife does, so we all know it's coming!

Not sure it would fit.

BTW as for changing stuff?

It’s funny you say that. I do, yeah. However when I get an Alienware thing I keep it forever. I’ve still got my Predator, Predator 2 ALX and two Area 51s. The latter three I used for years and years.

Oh and my brother has my X51 on loan.

OK so I’ve had an idea. I’m not going to make light boxes for the Tron lights. Maybe…..

I’m not buying a 3D printer. It’s £200 and it will only be used once. I’d then need somewhere to put it which doesn’t exist. Seriously my bedroom at mums was almost hoarder like so I cleared it out and I don’t want to go back basically.

I did get a better view of the light boxes and it’s perfectly possible I may be able to mod them with my own bulbs. If not? Well I then had the idea of soldering up 4 bulbs with wires, then butting them up to the light tubes and joining them with heat shrink. Which would totally work.I may need to cnc some 5mm into round shapes and double it up as a hard joiner to stop any potential flop but yeah…..

I doubt any of that makes any sense but it does to me lol.
