Project: Juggernaut

Nothing seems to be going right with my parts orders at the moment. So my long overdue right angle fittings are apparently now sat at my local depot so hopefully I can collect those tomorrow.

Now, my order from an OC competitor has apparently gone missing, or atleast one of the parts on my order has gone missing within the company and there allocation process. So It looks like the whole order is on hold according to the last email. :(

I just want this thing finished as its a straightforward build :(

Onto better news all the pipework is polished up ready although I will be redoing one of the pipes due to an over vigorous polishing technique resulting in a extra bend in the pipe. lol

240grit to get rid of any deep marks caused by my not so good pipe bender. 400, 800 and then apply a metal polish with applicator pad and a microfiber to buff and polish. Mirror polish using polish again with a soft cloth.

I have ordered some of this stuff to lacquer/seal the copper.

Also, do you have some pics of your build. Just curious to see what you have done. :)

Thanks for sharing. :) I like the layout.

Upped my polishing method a little and bought some metal polishing paste as opposed to my peak liquid stuff. Much easier to work into the copper.

I was not 100% happy with the finish so added in a few more grits before polish which to be honest were not really necessary as the polishing compound can take care of most fine marks in a soft metal like copper. 120 aluminium got rid of 90% of deep marks, stepped upto 240, then 400, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000 as I have a few sheets upto 3500 but pointless anyway I have found go carefull with a soft cloth and you can polish out marks from 800grit.

Not a great deal else to mention at the moment. Really hoping to have it running at the weekend as I bought division recently and my laptop don't cut it for gaming anymore.

Almost finished now. Really happy with the performance and has helped a lot with games as far as consistent clock speeds go now that it stays between 35-45degC depending on game and load at 4k. I use to get no end of throttling issues with the windforce coolers where temps were 78-85degC.

Only downside so far is the ddc pump is extremely noisy. I am running it at 12v/ 4400rpm and it remains constant but its just way too noisy so don't see it staying in my system for too long. Which means I would need to redo some pipework aswell. oh well.

Will post up some pics a little later when I get home but aside from the pump I am very happy. :)

OK here are some pics.

Got the precut plates for the GPU's. Will need the holes and cutouts made before I can fit them so wanting to get the system running I left them off for the time being.

copper backplates on the two gpu's testing fitment.

Lacquered the pipework. 5 pieces in total

memsticks could do with a copper trim. easy enough to sort.

Pretty much finished bar a little bit of tidying a side panel and some pci slot plates. Pretty simple project but the important thing is a cool running 980ti sli setup. Which I now have. :)
As mentioned before GPU's don't go above 45 and cpu 60 with all components heavily overclocked!

Tried fallout 4 @ 4k max settings. Will achieve 60fps with both cards at 60% load. This seemed to be an equalised temp of 40deg for the gpu's.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments :)

I have my pump running at half speed now which seems to give the best noise/performance ratio and makes the pump almost silent. Just need a quieter power supply now.

Thanks tyler_jrb, everyone,

What would be a good uv led strip set to buy for this setup? I'm starting to like the mix more and more of blue vs copper so would be good to get my coolant illuminated!

cheers guys. So far so good and no leaks

sacrilege I know but I currently have a non windowed side panel on. :(

I'm running all 5 rad fans at 700rpm so practically silent and keep that profile for gaming. GPU temps rise to mid 50's after 2+hours and CPU 70ish under full load so not bad for a powerful near silent rig.

System change coming soon..

More copper pipes but with a z270 platform 7700k, 980ti sli and asus formula mobo so hopefully it will look nice against the copper pipes.

Gives me a chance to put my 3770k into a ressurected lian-li v1000 case thats not seen the light of day since 2008! I love nostalgia.

Quick pic or two. New kabylake system same 980ti sli and wc components just top rad spun round and new pipe work to accommodate mobo block and new rad position. I am now able to add a rear fan that will be used as intake. Top rad will have the original noctua's put back on which completely hide the top pipe so it looks even more simple design which is what I like.

Sorry about the quality. Will sort some better progress and build photos soon! I also need a couple of angle connectors for the monoblock

More WIP..

I've managed to keep the loop looking nice and simple - here it is in test form. Flowing the pipework around the motherboard to keep all the mobo details nice and clear. Needs a lot of tidying up and the copper needs to be polished still but wanted to test the rig cpu pre-delidded. I have also used a serial gpu link block instead of a parallelel which was used previously and although cant say 100% that this is responsible for both cards running at the same temp vs previous build where the lower card was a few degrees up but my idle is 26deg on both. Need to get this system working hard to see where it ends up but so far stress tests on the cpu alone show it stays below 72deg.

kabylake @ 5.1ghz, 1.3v
980ti sli @ 1570/2000

Temps are looking really good so far!

wc'd - monoblock, cpu and gpu's using original 360 and 240 ek rads.

Aesthetically I am quite happy except for the noctua's dont sit well now that I have a near black vs copper scheme I am tempted to change to ek vardars.

I'm also on the lookout for windforce 980ti backplates for my two cards but most places are now discontinued.

I've got a "Cablemod WideBeam Magnetic LED Strip UV Ultra Violet - 30cm" in one of my machines. I can't remember where I bought it, but I can't find it on OcUK at the moment. It gives pretty good UV illumination. The fact that it's magnetic means that I can mount it on the case panel and I don't accidentally rip the cables out when I take the panel off, forgetting that it has LEDs stuck on it.

Alternatively, you could try searching for self-adhesive LED strips on auction sites. They tend to have standard connectors that clamp on the end and you should be able to buy or make a SATA or Molex power connector that fits them.

I've ordered some 5050 rgb strips should be delivered this evening. My motherboard has two rgb headers to link directly to and control the colour from the asus aura software.

Tested out the rgb strips. Still need to order some backplates that I have managed to source and a general tidy up of the wiring. Would be good to do something about the sli bridge too at some point.. Still testing the rig out at the moment. Tempted to delid my 7700k despite temps not being bad. Just curious to see if it makes any difference on top of what I already have at the moment..

Quick pic.. sorry not much I know..

Just ordered a delid tool for the kabylake...

So far I have pretty decent temps but always tempted to take cooling and overclocks to the nth degree..

Currently CPU - 28-30 idle / 60-72 highest load

Will try and sort some decent pics of this system and the build up soon.

Another copper build :)

Nice mate, is this 12mm copper?

Thanks.

Yes, I stuck with the 12mm soft copper again for the second incarnation. Got my delid tool today and just waiting on the gpu backingplates to arrive in about 30mins according to dpd.

Must say your system is producing some decent low temps there.

Its all a bit cramped in my midi but its not too bad dealing with nearly 800w when gaming. :)

where did you find the copper then? Random eBay? If you haven't already I can recommend the renaissance micro crystalline wax to stop the copper tarnish, superb finish if you put some effort in to it.

My temps are stupidly low yes but I do have 4 massive radiators and 17 fans to be fair lol... in my old mid tower they were still good and more than under any limits you might push.

Yes company on ebay called armartrading.

I used copper lacquer last time and seems to have lasted ok and managed to get a mirror finish after some elbow grease. I will check out this wax, though cheers.

Its all relative I know. I use 5 noctuas all @ around 700rpm and get temps that are good so the balance is right for me.

Should have an update or two with some pics as I've torn the rig down to fit a few bits, delid and polish up the copper.
