PICS IN POST #15 AND #48

OH HEY GUYS,

Decided to jump into i7 and finally put my PC under water. Also switching from ATI to Nvidia. I guess I just caught the unrelenting upgrade-bug from working in tech at OcUK :p

Old PC Specs:

q9650 @ 3.6ghz (Titan Fenrir)
Asus Rampage Formula
4GB (2x2gb) Xms2 800mhz
Sapphire 4870x2
Corsair TX650w
Samsung Spinpoint 320gb (Windows install and storage)
Antec 902, 3 Red akasa fans

My old antec was totally neglected and instead of cleaning up and re-cable managing my PC I decided I really did need to upgrade anyway. And I just waded in.

Current Spec:
EK Supreme LT Nickel Plexi - i7 970 @ 4ghz, 1.328v :D
Gigabyte X58-USB3. Budget board but overclocks just the same as the UD5 :D
6GB (3x2gb) Corsair Dominator @ 1600mhz
Zotac 460 /w Nickel Acetal EK waterblock @ 900core clock, 1087 core voltage, 1800 Shader Clock
Samsung Spinpoint f1 1TB (storage)
Crucial 64GB SSD (windows install)
Black Ice SR1 360 rad /w 3x120mm Xigmatek Crystals (Red LED) All running on fan voltage reducer cables
Corsair Professional Series AX750w (Braiding is extremely nice, althought I have PCI-E and 24pin nzxt pre braided extensions now)
XSPC 750ml Bay/res
3/8" Masterkleeer Clear tubing
Fluid XP+ Eco Earth Clear (With added candy red Mayhem dye)
CoolerMaster HAF X

Just got home from work with my fresh new build. Many thanks to rjkoneill and NathWraith for helping me with the spec/build.

Will post pics and update the thread in a lot more detail soon ;) Just thought I'd tease you all haha! Will also post temps whilst stress testing etc etc.

Really pleased with the final outcome and I hope you guys will be too, it's sleek.

Havn't got many pics of it in progress, I was too eager to build it first. But hopefully these will satisfy you all!

First of all, EK Supreme LT Nickel Plexi mounted on the board. My first time fitting a CPU block and was extremely straight forward. Using all TFC 3/8 compression fittings.

Bayres mounted and all tubing fitted, using all 3/8 TFC compression fittings, they really impressed me with the finish. Me and Rjkoneil cherry picked them out the warehouse to make sure we got the newer ones. Not quite sure of the difference, as they are the same fitting. I do plan to get a black backplate for my gtx460, personally I think it'd complete the look of the build. Just waiting for OcUK to get them in stock :)
IMG_1403.jpg

Cheeky shot of the SR1, with 3 xigmatek crystals mounted in a pull config. I could still fit the standard HAF X 200m fans, but there's really not much point.
IMG_1408.jpg

Another Motherboard shot, that's all I seem to have haha! I heatgunned the stickers off the xigma fans. Yeah it doesn't look that pretty but the standard stickers don't either :D
IMG_1409.jpg

Apologies for the unexciting pictures. The front panel headers are coming through a cable management hole in the PSU cable box, was pretty nifty imo.
IMG_1411.jpg

Again, I was really pleased with my cable management, the HAF did make it rather easy though. Especially with the fully Modular AX750 :D
IMG_1412.jpg

I think the PSU cable box really finishes it off. Makes the case look a lot tidier. Sometime soon I do plan to change the fluid to red, but still keeping clear tubing, and possibly add a Red LED Light strip.
IMG_1401.jpg

Not quite sure why Coolermaster put an unvevent amount of watercooling gromets. Think one of them is for the USB 3.0 extension cables for the front panel, however I removed them. Try and spot the 'edited' bit of case before the next photo ;)
IMG_1413.jpg

Custom IO shield 'edited' courtesy of Rjkoneil. The x58-usb3.0 board didn't come with a back plate so I got a spare UDR3 backplate, and Rjk did his best to make it fit with the dremel. I've just gotta be careful when plugging my network cable in, totally cuts up your fingers :p Adds a ghetto effect to the rugged HAF theme haha!
IMG_1405.jpg

Completely rushed photo, camera was focused on my over enthusiastic thumbs up. I admit the cable management at the back isn't the best. As I did have to use an 8pin extension cable. But you can't really see that which is good.
IMG_1407.jpg

I removed the stock shroud that comes attached with the 200mm fan on the sidepanel, but I do have the fan on. It's running at like 340RPM or something ridiculous according to the bios, and it's deathly silent. The massive sidefan does kind of ruin the sidepanel, but the window is still quite decent and saves me having to custom Mod one.
IMG_1415.jpg

Like I say, I do plan to change fluid sometime soon. Will make it look a lot better imo. That reminds me, I need to top the res up a little bit more too. Sorry about my messy desk in the background of these photos btw!

My Setup at home, another rushed photo as I've been itching to show you guys this build. The case really is the right size for my room/desk. Accompanied by my 24'' monitor, saitek eclipse 2 and razer deathadder (mouse of champions) I keep toying with the idea of gtx460 SLI and dual monitors in the distant future :D
IMG_1431.jpg

Hope you guys enjoy these photos, I know they aren't the best. Will take some of the PC in the dark with the sidepanel off, should be very pretty :) I'm gonna post some screenshots of some temps and a few bench's for you lot later. I also have an 'Overclockers dream' according to Rjk in my room. A thermostat that tells me the room temperature. Again many thanks to NathWraith and Rjkoneil for the help with this.

Let me know what you guys think! and any suggestions for cable management or anything is appreciated :)

Ran a couple of Benches.

Ran furmark for 3minutes, already know it's stable so just a cheeky quick Benchmark (I'm new to benching so open to suggestions for other programs to run!) at 1920x1200 res, 32xAA, fullscreen mode. Temps didn't really change for furmark, but apparently it's not the most 'stressful' of stress tests, if that makes sense?

Also ran, wPrime 32M (speed test) and my best score was: 31.475sec.

Yes, I am a noob :D

Just seen the pics. Looking very clean mate :D Great job!

Cheers mate.

Instead of spending money on 2L of Fluid XP Blood red, I decided to get some dye, only cost me £3.50 and looks awesome. Will be cleaning my loop out every so often to make sure of no residue.

Just awaiting for my Black EK 460 Backplate to arrive :)

Nah it's cool, getting decent temps on a pull config anyway. All fans have got voltage reduction cables on, minimal change in temps from when they weren't on.

970 @ 4ghz, 1.328v
55ish Load
30ish Idle

460gtx @ 1087/900/1800
42ish Load
26ish Idle

Yes I upgraded to a 970 ;) So a sleek 12cores with H2, decent for folding.

However I do want to change the back exhaust 120mm fan to a 140mm, just for noise and it's just bugging me knowing I could have had a quieter 140mm instead :p

Small Update: Should be fitting a black EK backplate to my card this week, also added some red dye to my loop. Got a few NZXT pre-braided cables too, will post a few pics when I've got my camera. :D

that looks sweet dude, makes me wish i had a big tower instead of the skeleton now

Will take some photos with the dye when I am home, so more pics up today.

I've been toying with an idea of a skeleton in the future, I really like open air cases, specially when air cooled.

Also, regarding temps, I forgot to mention that I have speedstepping enabled, so idle temps are around 25*c for the 970 :D

Considering getting dual monitors soon, so hopefully another 460 will be added aswell. Possibly watercooled. But need to sell my 24", toying with the idea of just getting two 22" monitors.

The 912 Plus does look pretty damn good for the price.. it's what I'd go for

Not sure if you're referring to my case :p This is HAF X (or HAF 942)

However, I did build in a HAF912+ at work today and was impressed. Just the exact same as a HAF X but smaller, fits a double rad in the roof too compared to the HAF X's triple. Not bad for just a CPU loop or a first time watercooler, especially considering the price

Well I have been trying to plan the route of my loop for a while and I think your set route is a good one so might do the same but with couple modifications :)

I meant to ask as well, what rpm are you running your fans on your rad at? According to Skinnee labs to cool my rig at 100% would require fans at 1100 - 1200rpm so I thought about adding a 120 SR-1 but so many people are running just 360's.

Running them all on voltage reducer cables, the stock RPM is 1500, so I imagine they're around 800rpm now? Not really checked but it didn't make a noticeable difference to temps at all really, but noticeable difference to noise of the system :)

Ah ok, thanks for the reply. 800 rpm fans sound fine to me, from that I think I will go with just a 360 as temps should be low enough but with the possibility of 120/140 rad for the future.

Yep should be fine.

These are my temps:

970 @ 4ghz, 1.328v
55ish Load
30ish Idle

460gtx @ 1087/900/1800
44ish Load
30ish Idle

Adding another 460 in SLI shouldn't make a difference in temps at all either. Could fit a 120/140 rad on the exhaust of the HAF X too :)
