As for the tubing, another option would be to use Feser Blue fluid, and clear tubing. What would be best? I was aiming to go for Nano Fluid, but that Feser tubing is quite expensive. Will try and shop around for a better price.
 
I've always liked the idea of clear tubing and coloured fluid. that means that if you have a clear reservoir, you can stick a cold cathode near it to have a pretty colour inside :D
 
Tubing 2 or 3. I'd go for 3 personally - lighter and very slightly turquiose is a nicer colour and still looks pretty close to the colour of the braid.

It's really not worth the hassle of getting dye - it's slightly prettier than coloured tubing, but UV light doesn't show your pc components very well. Coloured tubing and white cathodes (even better when slightly dimmed) looks nicer and avoids gunking up your system and staining every part in your loop.

Hmm. Not a bad idea actually. If I get myself some clear liquid, would be fine anyway. I want to get the nickel/acetal EK blocks, so you won't be able to see the fluid except for in the reservoir. Which will be inside anyway.

Just wanted to ask another question:

Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to buy my watercooling parts in batches, instead of all at once? I mean, it's not like components, where they can go wrong electrically. If I save the pump and fans until last, I should avoid any major problems.

What do you guys think? I was thinking of buying the blocks one month along with the reservoir and fittings and tube. Then the next month the radiator. Then the last month the pump, fans and coolant and any final parts.

Good idea? Or not?
 
yup run the PC as long as you can stand the noise .. then you are only without the PC till you finish it in one go .. or till you blow it up ofc :p

joking aside .. the good thing is if you have Everything .. and something doesn't fit .. it's no big deal cause it doesn't have to be working .. you can get replaces and carry on in spare time
 
I think I've had a change of heart regarding the colour of fittings and blocks...I know, hopeless, but that's what planning is for right :)

As I'm going blue and black braiding, I figured the gold on the matte black Bitspower fittings would just look a little bit wrong :( Still, I'm probably going to use the black sparkle Bitspower fittings. Not sure which GPU block I want to use, but I can work round that one was I plan further.

All this planning is getting to me. I need to plan all this before I buy, as I want to be able to buy right away as soon as I have cash. Sourcing the 1/2" ID fittings is looking difficult for now. What is really the best size for watercooling though? Or does it really not matter? Why do they even make multiple fittings sizes?

Tube size makes practically no difference to temperatures so go with what you like. The only difference size makes is bigger tubing (thicker wall) is less likely to kink but can be harder to route and conversely smaller hose (generally thinner walled) kinks easier but is easier to route. On some components the big 3/4od compressions have clearance issues as i found out. Some blocks cannot fit 3/4od compressions side by side and will need rotaries, i also couldn't screw my compressions onto the res as the recess' on the acetal base part of the res were not big enough. If your set on black compressions but don't like gold logos how about some by EK? They do a black nickel and an all black finish.

They look nice JeffyB. What's the quality like of the EK compression fittings? I mainly chose Bitspower fittings are I like the chunky look of them :p And I have heard they are excellent quality. I will have a think about those EK fittings. If I go Bitspower, I really like the look of the Black Sparkle fittings that Rich is using.
 
The black sparkle is nice on the bitspower, i wish they didn't put logos on them though. The ek compressions are ment to be of very good quality from what i have read. I don't think they do a 1/2id 3/4od though.
 
Ok. I will look around then. Will perhaps go 7/16" ID - 5/8" OD then, if the tubing size doesn't make such a huge difference. Going to price it all up tonight, not that I'm buying the water stuff for a few months, but I need an rough idea of what it is actually going to cost me!

As for the rest, once I get my loan in, I will be buying the AX1200 and the GTX 480. So expect movement on the building. October will see the cabling get tidied, when I take delivery from Nils at MDPC-X. Nice cable braiding will take place then :)

The rest of the build is still put back, but like I said, planning is still on going. Can tweak as I go.

Update: I had a weak moment, and thought about buying a TJ07. Then I realised, that my current case is just as big as a TJ07, and I really didn't need it :p So, keeping the 840, seems like a fun case to watercool. Maybe a TJ07 can be on my list next year if I still want one.
