Project management headache!

Chuck, no. Even I'm not allowed to run our production systems on anything other than paid for licenses. However I can get you a price below what you pay on Atlassian's website or an even bigger discount if you use any of our add-ons. Trust me if interested.

What addons do you make out of interest?

Atlassian's pricing is a bit weird really. Jira is something like half the price of Trello pro which is something absolutely crazy like £10/user/month. We're using the free one because it's not worth the upgrade fee!

Oooh, that's a nice coincidence, I'm currently considering migrating a couple of teams from Zoho Desk to to Jira.
I'd do it. Used zoho but big fan of JIRA. Yes, it's over engineered and a pain for some stuff, but it works and you can manage both projects (dev/agile/waterfall and business wise) as well as ticketing systems and they can link to one another too. You can have a full service management setup with release management and support as well as delivery. I have used jira for teams of 3 to 1000+ and really like it.

100% you can have permissions very granular, so you can have access to everything and teams can have access to their own stuff and that's all.

We also routinely use slack with JIRA integrations, where you can reference, comment and update jira through slack. So you have a convo about a ticket and can see what it's about, comment, assign and change status of it all through slack which is very useful.

Can't recommend this enough too!

How are they directly emailing your team? Your role as a PM is to protect your team, clients shouldn't have direct access full stop.

My role is the company owner, not the PM. I have a PM who takes 80% of the requests but it's very disjointed at the moment because of the varying disciplines in the team hence trying to solve this issue before it gets any worse. My PM is also getting emails, phone calls, support tickets etc etc. I need everything in the one place with the ability to manage workloads off the back of it because my team need to look at what they have scheduled for the day/week.

I'm putting in place a help desk for all requests regardless of nature.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've looked at Jira a couple of times but never been sold. How does it link up to the likes of Zendesk and Teamwork Desk?

I'm thinking of moving my PM system away from Wrike and over to Asana with zapier linking Teamwork Desk to and from. It's the product sync/integration I require the most, I need these platforms to be communicating.

You don’t need to. You can dispense with them if you use Jira Service Desk as your ‘flavour’ of Jira.

If you want to stick with them the you extend Jira with a suitable app to integrate e.g. https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=Zendesk
