Before we really consider building something internal, does anyone know any decent PM software (on or offline) which will do most of the following:

Project timeline/milestones, reports on progress, budget allowance, labour spent etc etc? Want something where the team can enter their spent time (preferably live recording) on project tasks so we can see whether we are under or over delivering etc.

P.S. it's for website projects!

Thanks

If you know your way around Microsoft Project you can do pretty much all that. Gantt charts, resource allocation etc etc

Work sent me on a MS Project course, returned all ready to get cracking on it to discover we had 1 license for the entire office and nobody knew where it was

Lol I've had that problem before! Visio is another that always causes fun ("what do you mean you can't function with just MS Office 2003?!?").

However if work expect you to be industry compatible and make use of the course that they have forked out for then you should just demand the licence. After all it's not your fault the company has misplaced it!?!?!

Lack of Visio has caused me few problems in the past, but not as many as the lack of a Visio reader on other people's machines. Honestly, they should build it into Word in the enterprise editions.

Can't help on the PM software I'm afraid, I avoid it like the plague.

As said Microsoft Project. Another common one in industry is Primavera, which has now been acquired by Oracle I think. Might be a bit "heavyweight though"

It's got to be MS Project really, nothing else seems to come close in terms of both simple and complex usage.
