Following on from my Retro Arcade cocktail cabinet project I posted, this was my second project (Project Maximus) built literally from the ground up.
Maximus Arcade is Windows based software that allows for seamless interaction with multiple arcade and console emulators while keeping the Windows environment hidden.
Although best suited for use in computer driven arcade cabinets, it can be configured for use in a kiosk or simply running on a computer with a keyboard, trackball, or gamepad.
It's been a joy to both build and play and although originally for more old skool games, the potential re emulation is boundless and any executable PC game can be added.
Neat Front end interfacing allows you to pretty much to configure how you want it. Control pad managed via an ipac controller. Coin Mech currently set to accept the old ten pence Bigger coins - remember them?
Recently upgraded the computer with the following low cost but efficient parts: Asus M4A78LT Mobo; Corsair Ram; AMD Sempron; ibox cube case.
Main Supported Systems (and others if you know how)
3DO, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari 800/800XL, Atari Jaguar, Atari Lynx, Atari ST, Bandai Wonderswan Color, Batch Files (can execute any .exe Pc game), Capcom Play System 3 (CPS3), Coleco ColecoVision, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, Commodore Amiga, Daphne, DOSBox, FinalBurn Alpha (FBA),
Future Pinball, GCE Vectrex, Kawaks, Magnavox Odyssey2, MAME, Mattel Intellivision, MSX, MSX2, Nebula, NEC PC Engine, NEC Turbo-Grafx-16,
Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Super NES, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo Gameboy Color, Nintendo Gameboy Advance, Raine,
Sega Genesis, Sega 32X, Sega CD, Sega Game Gear, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Master System, Sega Model 2 emulator, Sega Saturn, Sinclair ZX Spectru,
SNK Neo-Geo, SNK Neo-Geo Pocket, SNK Neo-Geo Pocket Color, Sony Playstation One, Sony Playstation 2, Texas Instruments TI-99/4A, Ultra 64 (Killer Instinct 1 & 2)
Visual Pinball, Windows Media Player, ZINC etc.
My next project was rather more ambitious, my best yet, still works in progress, and consisted of a more powerful PC, Rotaing Beacons, full size Pinball cabinet, Relays, LEDs/LED-WIZ controller, dual 1080p monitors etc.
more on that soon...
Hope you like and gets you thinking that Computers can be built for anything you desire so get cracking!
